Amazon and UL sue 5 Chinese E-Bike companies

Good for them, but this feels like whack-a-mole I wonder what instigated this action, at this time, and against these vendors. Was Amazon afraid of getting sued itself and wanted to head it off at the pass?

pff it's their fault for doing less than what the government requires for safety regulations in regards to Chinese originated products.
Our govt also turned a blind eye to this until recently.

Amazon is suddenly held accountable and now it's time to pass the charge on..

Of course there is equal fault on the Chinese vendor side, but the west knows for some decades now that quality of Chinese products is much more hit/miss versus western products.

Basically Amazon produced this situation by not doing the QC and basically becoming American Alibaba.

I know Amazon has got in trouble over other product categories but the feds seem to really be going after anything related to green energy over the last 2 years, and yeah, Amazon sold a ton of sketchy product.

Honestly good riddance, think about how many basically unanswerable questions we have on this forum over the last few years over things bought on there with no documentation or support whatsoever. In that situation, Amazon aided and abetted the process of leaving the customer with 'the bag'

Should the Chinese companies get sued for lying? sure
But cmon man, you know passing those chinese raws direct to customer without any QC never works well

It takes you back to the heady days of cheap Japanese and Taiwanese products. Cheap in comparison to stuff made in the West but still fit to purpose. But within a Decade they lifted their game Many people since 2005 odd have been China apologists claiming that they too would lift their game. I never believed it based on their culture and the fact they are a centralized communist nation. We're still waiting of course...

As for Amazon, it isn't a business, it's a pirate ship on the high seas of internet sales. Just when all the little businesses were tooling up to go online they stepped in and offered to 'manage' all that tricky stuff for them. Like most of the big whales they gave away the service for next to nothing, until they had all the rabbits in the hutch, then they slammed the door and started jacking up fees. The big money of course came from tapping into the Chinese garbage stream. I've only ever used three or four times in my life, a total ripoff usually, especially with shipping now.

Doesn't look like the customers will get anything out of this (customers who already bought the ebikes, not future customers).
