Ok, so I had a kindle and then returned it earlier last year around November, and well, I got one for 1/2 price $79.99 at my local Goodwill, and this is the same version as my first, it's a 3G with Wi-Fi keyboard version like this:

And I have discovered, for all it's faults, and limitations, it's still the most amazing deal for a casual reader and the E-Ink screen which can be used to surf all day long using 3G will typically only use 1/4 of the battery if that!

Well, since I got the version with out the "special offers" advertisements, for just $79.99 I went ahead and got another one this time to keep.

Unfortunately, 3 days ago, I was walking in a local store and dropped it when I wasn't paying attention, and it hit the ground just hard enough to open up the back partially (it has a plastic case and it hit hard enough to move the plastic tabs out of alignment, but not enough that the back actually came open) and the power switch which is also the re-set button if you hold it down down for 20 sec and then release it, will restart it.

Well, I played with it over the last few days, and only once initially after the fall did it attempt to reset, going to the start screen with the loading bar you first see when it is new and then froze.

I just called them and learned there is a one year warranty! They are now in the process of sending me a new Kindle!! :D :D :D

I am so happy, I was really worried at first as I was planning on using the Kindle as a way of going to deliveries via Google Maps, and was really concerned that it wouldn't be up to the task durability wise, however, I now see that Amazon is selling the Kindles with the special offers for $74 used, so if I did have some break again, they are very cheap to replace!

The Kindle Keyboard still isn't a true tablet computer or anything, but it's a pretty close Lap-Top replacement, and with the extremely low battery use with the E-Ink screen, I still have not found anything close to it for the money (mainly because you get a free 3G connection!!) and until I find a better tablet for the money, this is going to be what I am using as a portable email & Google Maps tablet. 8)

Free 3g, I envy you...... I have 2 Galaxy tab 8.9 LTE SGH-957 and Galaxy tab 10.1 Wifi version. I paying 35 dollars on Galaxy tab 8.9 LTE and The 10.1 tab wifi uses my Thunderbolt tethering access the internet (unlimited cause I have grandfather account).

They running excellent battery life usually 1 weeks run out even moderately use lot.

BTW both are rooted and custom ROM loaded gives lot better than stock ROM.

Lastly, sorry about your tablet got damage and go get Kindle fire. I read MSNBC news said the Kindle Fire getting very popular and catched up with Galaxy tab's populars.

I am on my second kindle (droped the first one after 13 months) and I still cant get over the eInk display. Its like someone found a crashed alien space ship and copied it from there. Its jusl like no other displays.
Oh and I use mine for reading... :)
