Another Bomber/Enduro Clone

Here is how I configured the adjustability of the Sabvoton controller with the cycle analyst:

The first switch is the three speed switch on the Sabvoton. It basically limits top speed. The top position is 100%, which allows field weakening. The middle is 99%, which is basically top speed without weakening. Finally the bottom is somewhere near 60% which translates to a 28mph limit.

The next switch selects the CA3 mode. Each mode has a different battery current limit and a different speed limit. Up is the unrestricted mode, 100A and 60mph. Middle position is 50A and 50mph. This allows top speed, at least on flat terrain, but is easier on the battery. Finally the low position is set to 25A and 30mph. Good for a new rider, for at least first couple blocks.

The final switch is the CA3 digital up/down input and varies the speed limit. Depending on the mode, there are 10 steps generated between the maximum setting and 0. So this allows you to select a CA controlled speed limit on the fly. I use this for cruise control. Pick the speed, floor the throttle, wait 3-4 seconds, release the throttle and it will hold that speed. I have trouble getting the normal cruise to engage at a mid throttle setting. If you loosen up the CA settings to make mid throttle cruise activation easy, it tends to get inadvertently activated in cruise mode. Once cruise is ON, stepping the limit up and down selects the new speed setting and the bike accelerates or slows to match. In Power mode, you better be hanging on when increasing the speed this way, it jumps to 100A immediately to reach the new speed setting. Economy and Low are not such a big deal.

The circuit to implement the CA3 switches is in a Grin tech note and looks like this:

I always struggled with the best way to implement useful functionality with these switches, especially without PAS. This the best I've come up with. Anyone else do something different?

Nice build, I bet that thing is a hoot on the road. Is your rear tire on backwards?

You are incredibly observant! Yes it is. And I've been too lazy to turn it around.

I only have bike sized tire irons, and it was really difficult to get the moped tires on the rims. By the time I realized I screwed up the bike was built.

Outside of pouring rain, I'm banking it doesn't make much difference?

Probably not much difference really. Just thought I'd point it out incase you didn't notice. Enjoy the ride.
