Hello

Right its playtime again!

I have another Lipo in for test, this one has a removable BMS! which is different, it is from the same supplier as the old batteries, this one is a 37V 15AH and is good for 40A continuous.

It is smaller than the old batteries and lighter, this one weighs in at an astonishing 9.4lbs!! (4.28kgs) for all you weight watchers out there this is really very light indeed.

The Dimensions are as follows

9.05 wide x 3.54 deep x 5.31 high Inches (230mm wide 90mm deep and 135mm high.)

I will report back as to how it performs and how many AH I can get before it shuts off.

Its looking good, also got the Puma in a 26 Inch as well and another top secret motor to test.

All the best

Knoxie

Hi DC

No don't worry this is a prototype battery really don't worry the batteries you have got are really very good as well mate!!

Will let you know how this one goes, still not quite sure why they have done this, it may be for service or repair reasons so they can get the BMS out easy if it fails as the pack itself might be ok.

We shall see how it goes!!

Cheers

Hello Richard

I have lifted the lid and it is really just a plate with the BMS in and then the block where the battery is and 2 holes interconnecting them.

I am at work and it is a little tricky but I will try and take a snap with the lid up!!

Cheers

Hi Knoxie

Can I have eight of those for my motorbike pleeeease?

Since you started posting about Team Hybrid's batteries and motors I'm sorely tempted to start building an ebike, rather than carrying on with the motorbike conversion I began last year. Still, at the rate I work, those batteries of yours could have fallen within my price range by the time I'm ready to go...

Looking forward to hearing more!

Knoxie,

The new battery looks great and at under 10 pounds could be a real winner. Looking forward to your test results!

Knoxie, these batteries sure look like a great turnkey lithium solution for the masses. I like the aluminum box -- seems slightly more safe and robust than my wood box solution :)

But... In the RC world (rcgroups.com) where they're pushed harder, lipoly's have a terrible longevity record -- much worse than the canned lithium cells. 100 cycles is considered very good by most, even when run below their advertised C-rating. I'd like to see some hard data on EV Tech pack calendar and cycle life.

Also, cobalt is more expensive than manganese, and so it appears, once production ramps up to meet demand, lithium manganese cells, and lithium iron phosphate (both much safer, ultimately cheaper, and longer lasting than lithium cobalt) will rather quickly supplant lithium cobalt as the defacto lithium standard for small ev's. Prismatic lithium manganese cells are now being sold by some RC vendors. What's your supplier got in the pipeline?

Hello all

Hi and thanks for the comments so far, here is the picture with the lid up, i hear what you are saying about the cycle life all I can say it the ones I have are as good as they were the first day I used them which is roughly 4 months and 100 ish cycles.

I fixed another broken controller tonight 2 x fets blown! so I can hook that up to the motor for a test with this battery!!

Cheers

Knoxie
