Next mix will not be very up-tempo. In fact it will be very sedate so I can hypmotize Endless Sphere members into clucking chickens! @ Link. Lots of smooth music. It's pretty groovy for those who partake in herbal recreations. Very nice to wake up to if you set your CD alarm clock on less than medium volume and about one hour ahead of your usual waking time. It's pretty dope, I think. Oh, and I got the Akira Kurusawa's Seven Samurai movie soundtrack on there mixed with Keiko Matsui's most excellent piano skillz.

I find it somewhat sad that my profile says I've watched nearly 11,000 videos on YouTube. On the other hand, I can find the most incredibly random stuff off the top of my head. For example

Dude, Youtube is the best video entertainment money can't buy! You don't have to put up with (unless you seek it):

-commercial interruptions

-political propaganda

-you can find Chicken Techno vids

-you can find old friends/newenemies doing the chicken dance

-Who killed the electric car rockumentary (not Youtube) *hats-off to Lock*

-Ellica Super Electric Car rockumentary *hats-off to Doctorbass*

-A123 M1 pack building instructional vids

...

At the insane speeds that digital media technology is going, and with most of the world's population not knowing what to do with it, I'd say you're on the right track.

Forget TV. Youtube is quality entertainment. 8)

PLEASE REMAIN SEATED

Haven't posted at all for awhile due to lack of progress with my projects, I didn't feel a need to post just for the sake of posting. That, and I've been busy with computer problems one after another, with the holidays, as well as with my baby girl born last Nov... stressing me out over her having been born with 8 legs @_@ now we'll need to get her 4 pairs of shoes... Just fncking with you, as always LOL! She's very lovely, healthy, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed little bambino

Anyway, this topic caught my interest and I just had to show: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8175&p=125705&sid=a405bdda96fb9dba3472f98ad61b9de9#p125705

things are starting to wind down and life becoming a little more predictable once again so I'll be continuing on with my ebike projects and hopefully spin some new mixes DAB-NABIT ! ! 1

I've been doing cartwheels over the progress of my battery pack http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3035&p=133371#p133371 and also how well my Chinese BBQ porkbuns turned out so I had to celebrate by sharing more music and the recipe I found on the net.

This mix is quite old but still one of my favorites. (I'm almost sure that I haven't played it to you yet). It's all electronic music from beginning to end but never got too weird or heavy ~I like smooth music~ It's almost 80 minutes long so I divided it in two parts to fit my 50mb limit as well as to compress the parts in higher audio quality. You can rejoin the two parts with either iTunes or Audacity freeware.

As for the porkbun recipe, it takes more work than most dishes but well worth it IMO. The hardest part would be making dough with all the kneading. Being the lazy bastard that I am, instead of making dough from scratch, I bought two portions of raw dough from my friendly neighborhood Indian restaurant for 3 bucks each. No really. I asked for two portions of nan dough and they sold it to me but then laugh me out the door. To show them I was serious, I came back a week later and bought two more. They asked why I buy just dough and I told them I bake it in my toaster oven and they laughed some more.

hhmm maybe they were laughing "with me" not "at me" but I still don't see what's so daggum funny! GRRR

Well they have big hearts and figured that if they don't bake the dough for me in their authentic Indian stone oven, they might as well give me bigger portions for 3 bucks. Sweet. But they still laughed me out the door, sheesh!

The first batch of six buns were small due to the smaller dough portion.

The second batch of six buns (in the picture) are much bigger.

Well here's the best part. Last week I made some tandoori chicken (grilled spicy chicken) and had plenty of left-over so I chopped that up in chunks and made tandoori chicken buns, DEELISH !

Damn, that does look good. I love anything that delivers hearty goodness in a bun that you can take to go. I'm downloading that mix, I haven't heard your music before, I usually prefer jungle beats, tribal stuff, and progressive. I really like everything, as long as it stirs the soul.

Hi etard,

Socal is a great place for authentic asian culinary delights so you're very lucky you can just shoot down to you're nearest chinese deli and pick up some BBQ Pork Buns, yum! Ooh, even vietnamese pho noodles are to die for. *stomach grumbling* Mmm.. and Thai BBQ chicken and curries ooh wee!

ENOUGH! :x

Socal also has really sick DJ's. You don't need to go to high profile parties to have a great night because even small events with the no-name DJ's are incredibly funky.

etard said:

Eclecticism.. I am with you on that one. Soulful DnB is what I like but have no tracks to speak of, it's why I leave it up to the pro DJ's at DnB events here.

I've been leaning towards jazzy tunes for the past several years. If you're interested, I'll repost my jazzy mixes for you.

What's the scissors in your avatar mean?

J

Jay,

It's a saying "Running with scissors." It pretty much sums up my life thus far, kinda like operating without a safety net, or storing batteries in a metal box. I "borrowed" it from a guy on another forum cuz I got tired of my old one. Anyway, I really like your mix, very eclectic (if your about 30) and good for a bike ride. It set the tone for my day. I am going to have to find some of these BBQ pork buns, you say they can be purchased at the local market? Your right about SoCal having a vast selection of asain eateries. I have discovered the joys of Pho (very good for a hangover) and eat at a Thai restaurant on my lunch break (red curry please, with thai tea) all the time. I really haven't hit any local parties, kinda got out of the scene, haven't met anybody that's in it for the music, just kids trying to sizzle their brains. Well, I will have to search this thread for more good tunes from the groovemaster, Dee Jay. Oh, by the way, how do you mix your beats?

Gotcha

Glad you like my mix! I prefer mixes that I can lounge to but dancy enough to keep me awake.

Actually, I meant to say Chinese bakeries, they almost always have them, usually for as low as 50 centavos each. Yeah, they're indeed Good to Go! And great for breakfast with a large cup of coffee. Not the fancy starbucks stuff but cheap watery coffee from Dunkin' Donuts, he he!Some buns are steamed with a different filling. My fave is the honey baked "Char Siew Bao" BBQ pork buns

I know exactly what you mean. Japanese Kake/Soba (noodle soup) is what I have after a night out.

Haven't been out either. I don't really like scene here for many reasons. Will try to hit up campsite events someday, though.

I burn MP3 to disc and use CD decks. I still have turntables but haven't bought vinyl is a long time. It's hobby (habit?) that's hard to give up.

etard said:

The links on this thread are broken. I have a 50mb limit so I have to delete the old mix to upload a new one

J

How are you doing J? Thanks for the mix...I'm diggin' it too. Downloaded an listening to it now. Mellow enough to keep in the background and not get distracted while I work on the computer yet not too laid back that I fall asleep.

Etard,
Along with the Vietnamese Pho, and Thai stuff, you really need to also check out some of these local SoCal all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ places. You know... the places where you get to cook the stuff yourself on a grill at your table. It's a meat lover's heaven... especially he Beef Kalbi.

Cheers Sacman. Sharing music is what I do. :D As etard said, it's good for riding.

Wow, spring is here:

-BBQ picnics under the cherry blossom trees

-free outdoor raves

-ebike cruises

-spring fever

oh my my, oh hell yes

Very nice, I very much did enjoy this one. I would even say it's the best you've presented so far in my opinion. If I didn't care for my own or other people's safety I would be tempted to listen to this mp3 while riding my bike, playing it as loud as my Nintendo DS can drive earphones. Altho I'm tempted to do it anyways...

Hey yeah, seems one of my friends remixed this one a few years ago, it's pretty good:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=953EEFDR

He sent it to me sorta message-like because of what happened to the doors in the parking garage two days ago, or because he didn't like Blümchen's Heut' Ist Mein Tag. Not all that clear. But, that's what you get you have freinds your parent's age. "here's some REAL techno" [...] Anyways, says the voice comes from this movie:

The one I went to was in Yucca Valley many years ago. After a quick search, I only found bad reviews of this place and no mention of All You Can Eat buffet. Maybe the All You Can Eat deal affected their quality and service after awhile. I had no problems with their service what-so-ever and they replenished everything consistently. ...don't remember Popcorn Chicken... but they had Original, Crispy, Spicy Crispy, Honey BBQ, Rotisserie, Salad Bar, Dessert Bar, Drink Bar, Jalapenos.. All that. All fresh and good! For less than 8 bucks!

But here's a cool little article which describes how I felt when I found this quiet little secret (I was like, "...oh hell no...") It was like Harold & Kumar, ha ha! 8)

Road trip to the mystical KFC Buffet

All started two years ago when our friend, who we'll call Bob mostly because his name is Bob, relayed what was first considered a tale verging on the fantastical. Bob's travels had taken him to the exotic land of Georgetown, TX, where on the I-35 Frontage Road, he espied what he thought an error in signage, or at least the devious work of a disgruntled Chief Marquee Letter Placer. (Digression: Frontage Roads are what Texans call Access Roads. When my cousin from back home visited, he asked: "Was this Frontage guy a general at the Alamo, because seems like every town has a road named after him?"). Ever the curious one, Bob pulled over and as he opened the doors of the sparkling new building, the intoxicating 11 herbs and spices smacked him dead in the primal eye of his gut. After a seemingly interminable search, he had found the mecca: the ultra rare KFC All-You-Care-to-Eat Buffet.

For two years, Felix Ruiz, a KFC freak from way back, was incredulous about the existence of the KFC Buffet and often prodded Bob for details: "So, what you are telling me is that you can eat all you want, both original and crispy, and that they replenish the tray with yet more chicken?" Bob: "Honest to God, but you need to understand it is just a KFC." Ruiz: "So, it's like a normal KFC but it has a buffet line with chicken--both original and crispy--,biscuits, mash potatoes--ohh, important question: do they have gravy, like with a ladle and I can use as much gravy as I want?"

When we got outside of Austin, we had to admit to Gupton, who had been duped into driving, that the mystical KFC lay just north of Round Rock, a town otherwise known as The Epicenter of Society's Downfall. At that point, I recall Gupton calling us "frockers." Forty-minutes into the trip, we pull into a parking lot big enough for 50 SUVs full of corpulent suburbanites who just shopped for plastic lawn accoutrements at the Super WalMart. The anticipation is welling as we individually pay the $7.53 entry fee into the chicken wonderland. Now, I realize you are expecting some great finish with culinary experiences approaching the orgasmic, but this a tale of a band of idiots driving 40 miles to eat at a KFC Buffet, just because such a place exists. So what do you expect? Ruiz used the gravy ladle. We ate enough chicken to feed a small town and we had bad gas for a week. On the way back to civilization, like the first explorers to discover Shreveport, we seriously questioned what the frock we were thinking.

I thought this was the only one in existence until I read this post.

Same price $7.34... it's owned by Polly's Pies.

There is one 700 N Milwaukee Ave
Vernon Hills, IL 60061. I used to work 2 minutes from it and would go there for lunch often. Only thing I miss about the job. Tried to find one near my current work and called a few KFCs every empoloyee I asked acted as if I were crazy. Pisses me off that there is no way to search for a KFC buffet oin the web. KFCs website doesn't even mention their buffets.

There is a KFC Buffet in Augusta, GA as well. I just discovered it when I got a new job doing collections for a furniture store. I passed a KFC and thought I saw the word Buffet. I had to turn around to verify and sure enough it is an all you can eat KFC. I have yet to eat there, but plan on it soon. I will likely starve myself for 24 hours before so that I can devour my own weight in chicken and gravy.

For those that are interested it is on Dyess Parkway / Belair Rd at exit 196 off I-20.

The KFC in Vernon Hills, Il SUCKS!!!! If you feel like kfc buffet, I recomend you take a road trip... somewhere else. I live in the next town (where they HAD a great kfc but closed it), and if I now want it, I'll drive farther. The manager of the VH store is terrible. I've worked in retali over 7 years and NEVER have I met someone who shouldn't be aloud contact with people, let aolne "serve" them. The buffet food ALWAYS looks nasty. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Every time I have been there it appears to have been there forever. EWWWW. After my latest visit, I will never go there again, and recomend everyone else to do the same. There's an Old Country Buffet across the street. It might be like a dollar more, but it's totally worth it. VH KFC

Yeah, I did a quick Google search, too, and didn't come up with much. Looks like I likely won't ever get to see the wonderland that is a KFC buffet. :(

a K F C buffet will never be advertised, because if it was, then people will come from all directions and distances to take advantage of it and the franchise owner would lose out.

I would guess you won't find it in a large crowded city, or suburban ares. Most likely in small no-name towns.

Like I said, it is a "Quest" (obsession) . Just stay vigilant and ask around. They'll laugh at you but so what.

Good marketing strategy though, K F C keepin' us guessing ...

Yeah, just think how unhappy the restaurant owner would be seeing a entire football team or heavy weight wrestling team appear to take advantage of their all-you-can-eat buffets. :D

It's a bit over a year since I started this thread but no new mix to offer so I reposted the very first mix of this thread for those who missed it.

I meandered along through some tracks the first 10 to 20 minutes into the mix, my usual starting pattern in search of a feeling or groove, then quite a few tight tracks gelled together well in the last part of the mix
