Marie Sharp's Habanero Sauce, yowch!

Don't be a wuss. It's only the third hottest chili there is (I think). :p

Looks tasty. Would be great with some grilled chicken.

All things in moderation, dude. Different levels of spiciness are sold: Regular, Mild, Hot, and Fiery Hot. I think Marie Sharp is a great commercially available brand because it's not just hot but also very good flavor. Other sauces are just hot but not tasty.

I'd go with Fiery Hot if I was having only corn chips and beers. But for fine meals, Hot would be the way go so you can taste the food instead of trying to get the spice past your palate making you eat so fast that you'll never get the chance to taste the ensemble of carefully picked and prepared ingredients. Or trying to dowse your palate with cold drinks leaving so bloated with liquids that you won't have room for the rest of the meal. Try it and you will find that I am right and Teh Bomb. 8)

But don't get me wrong. Even Hot will have you crawling to the toilet in the morning and sitting in the Hot Seat, Ho ho ho!

Mmm, indeed. Fieryness alone does not a hot sauce make (sorry, I read like 400+ episodes of 8-Bit Theatre yesterday). Can't beat the flavor of a good jalapeno/chili/pepper.

Oh, yeah. I remembered the hottest is the Naga Jalokia (something like that). It's like 2 - 3 times as hot as a habanero.

Normally, I would make a witty comment about how my intake of spicy foods has turned a certain part of my body into a certain ferrous metal, but that got me kicked out of restaurant last time I did. :p

Muy Caliente!

Oh, sweet, I actually got the third hottest pepper thing right. Go me. 8)

YO. . .

It's Friday and I am utterly elated so I just dropped yet another wacky mix for your listening pleasure. This is an old mix performed back in 'Oh-5 for an outdoor family event. Lots of good choones for all you 70's & 80's byproducts , so have a listen, or else.

I'm actually working my way backards down to my old mixes as I haven't had the time to work on a new mix. But hang tight because I have a new mix in the werks!

Happy Friday!
J

Thanks for the habanero Tyler!

The wife and the boy took off to the inlaws as a sort of springbreak *from me*. After dropping them off at the bullet train station (you know the electric trains that go hundreds of kilometers per hour?) I went two stations back to . . . you guessed it! the electronics district, Akihabara.

Joygasm!

I took my sweet time exploring and shopping. Found my copper sheet (with adhesive backing) and one 3 volt relay. Then bought *not one but* two servings kebab, one lamb, one chicken, and a jug of cheapy california wine Carlo Rossi. Got home, popped in some choones, chowed-down, chug-a-lugged, and worked on my rotating charger with no commercial interruption. You cannot beat that with a bat!

So allow me to gloat ~ Tra ~ la ~ fuggin ~ la ~

Cheers ,Ypdeal! Eat, drink, and be merry. And rock out.

Happy Friday on your Satruday!

I just got back from Japan a week ago, took the blue/yellow stripe train from Tokyo to way up north. I was disappointed there was no speedo in the cabin!

Damn!

How was your trip?

Business or pleasure?

Was it your first time here?

How about the ladies, huh?

Food? Did you eat anything that was still trying to escape out of your mouth? Ha ha! In japan it's a novelity. In China and other asian countries, it's normal. To me it's just plain cruel!

Shinkansen: There are several different models, I've only ridden one model, economy maybe... but always had a speedo. I feel a slight shimmying side to side but never spilled my green tea. Very smooth for 200+ kph! It's like an $99 airbus filght from LA to SF, just an hour ride to the inlaws out in the boonies (5 hours by car) and costs nearly the same. How was your ride?

Next time put your GPS against the window.

Pretty cool on an airliner.

Wow, I love sushi but that's a bit much...

Only reason I would want to go to japan is because cartoons make it look fun and awesome, I'm sure in real life it's like any other country.

Vacation, family visit, went 2 years back also. Didn't get the chance to sample any strange food. Or pretty laides. Shinkansen ride was $50 a ticket IIRC, fairly smooth. Smooth enough that I had bento onboard and kept it down. My 4 yr. old took a 200kph dump no prob! My nephew was listening to some Red Hot Chilli Peppers in his car, he was telling me he likes that kind of music. He's a drummer in a band, wonder what kind of clubs he get up in to. Maybe next time I'll have time to find out!

As to whether its awesome or not, I think that depends on the person visiting. To me it is.

Living in Japan is too expensive in my opinion. It's like living in Manhattan NYC. Convenient and exciting...yes, but you're going to pay for that convenience.

Well... Not to be a prick, but MY system comprises of a G5000 Sansui receiver, who's price of $470 us was well worth it in 1978 to '80. And this receiver is powering a set of Canadian-made speakers (made for Sansui) from the same year, model S-40C. Now I know the receiver is perhaps not as accurate as my dad's Sansui 7070 and S-55C speakers, but the sound from my smaller speakers in a small room is very "natural" and tight. The speakers are air-suspension and well designed, so despite being 3-ways with 10 inch woofers from 1978, they have very accurate bass and a full, tonally balanced sound.
And then there are my dad's S-55C's, which are just like my speakers, only they're 4-ways with 12 inch woofers. And they too are tonally balanced with tight accurate bass, but they have higher highs and lower lows, and have a lot more detail. They reveal truly bad recordings, and truly good recordings - very little colouring of the sound. They approximate B&W's mid-level sound.

My real point is that it is through these systems that I find even the best compression encoding has flaws. Mp3 was a great theory, and was a good step in the right direction, but it has problems. Mainly that treble sounds warbled, and the overall feel of the sound is changed or lost - perhaps some of the imperceptible things the format removed were important for subliminal sonic imagery?
So far the best highly compressed format I've heard is AAC, which may not be accurate or true to the original sound, but tends to have fewer distracting artifacts in the treble and seems to retain more of the original feel of the sound. Of course the best really is both Apple and Microsoft's "lossless compression". But then we get to my biggest problem with digital sound these days: Most music is inadequately recorded to begin with.
See, I tested the claim that CD audio can handle up to 20,000 Hz sound frequencies.. I used Audacity to generate tones at the sample and bit-rate of CD. Turns out 20KHz actually is just unreadable spikes between the samples, and it isn't until you get down to about 12 or 13KHz that the waveform starts to appear. So that means digital to analogue converters must sort of simulate the high frequencies. I guess that only the fairly high sample rates available in DVD and Audio DVD format are adequate. Pity.
In the mien time, avoid buying amplifiers based on their advertised wattage. My dad's 7070 is rated at 60 watts per channel. That is a very conservative rating, whereas todays crap tends to be rated nearly 4-fold higher than the actual. Remember: If a speaker says it produces 90 db at 1 watt, in a small room you'll normally only need less than a watt per channel! Also go for sound quality. My amp only produces 35 watts a side, but the sound is hard to beat these days.
And another thing... I realize they're the latest thing, Subwoofers. And they are fine if you need to save space, like in an ebike or at a computer desk... But nothing beats all the full range of sound coming from each speaker. We may not perceive where bass comes from, but I'm sure there's a subconscious effect having the bass come from left and right speakers that gives us a sense that the sound is more real. Don't get me wrong - some subwoofer systems sound very good. Just sayin'.
And finally, I know B&W uses them, but even though B&W's speakers are perhaps the best sounding, there is one thing I would say could be improved: The ported speaker cabinet, designed to reduce mid-range and increase bass response of woofers, should be left to small speakers. The simple fact is air-suspension cabinets are the only ones capable of producing a single sound wave (outside the cabinet). Bass reflex cabinets send out the main sound wave, plus a bassy second sound wave at a slightly different time, and this muddies even the tightest bass signal. Air-suspension however can be made to have very accurate sound indeed. I'm only talking about regular linear motor speakers, not fancy ones like electro-static.
Okay, ranting complete. Back to my ebike!
P.S - Class A amps produce a truer signal than all other classes.

Oh, okay. Vinyl has the quality of being a physical representation of the waveform, which is cool and produces a very smooth version of the recording. A bit like comparing transistors to tubes. But Vinyl has a noise because of the needle scraping the surface of the record. Digital transmission and recording results in noiseless playback, assuming the amplifiers and Digital/Analogue converters are high quality, but there is a choppiness to the sound unless the sample rate and bit rate is very high. CD audio for example can sound very tight and precise, but with such low sample and bit rates it becomes harsh and crisp in the highs, versus the noisy counterpart vinyl, which can sound very real and "natural" - not stressed.
Radio is very cool considering how far it can be broadcast and received by almost anybody, but there is a very destructive encoding process to condense the waveform into either Frequency Modulation or Amplitude Modulation. The result is that the clearest reception will sound like radio, not the actual recording. It can still sound good of course... In fact some of it's appeal to me is that it has a certain sound one only gets with radio.
Potentially digital recording and copying could result in the very finest reproduction of sound and music, but at the moment the most accessible digital is sub-par.

Staar Waars!

Nothin' but STAAAR WAAARS!

Nothin' but STAAAR WAAARS!

ALL OF THE TIIIIMMME!

Those are the original lyrics. Go ask G.L.

Hope you all liked that last one as it is one of my fave mixes!

Been lagging on this entertainment portion of ES. Got a chance yesterday to work on the new mix for the second time since last month and I have to say I'm very happy with the practice session. Can't wait for the recording and digifying session opportunity! Whether you like my mixes or not it's all good, I just need a new mix (with old choons) badly!

For now I'll leave you with another old mix that I find somewhat satisfying: some easy 80's & 90's rock mixed with meditative tracks (great with painkillers) and everything else. Excuse the low quality mp3, the best I could do.

Loved the Kebab parody, Y! Cheers for that!

Happy Friday in advance!

I'm so jazzed that I was able to fix my bike's controller over the weekend with minimal effort and heartache

http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=764&p=78255#p78255

so I thought I'd throw down yet another old mix to spread the positive vibes because this mix contains my personal Victory Music. You know, like Rocky Balboa's Victory Music? Just like that. Which music, you ask? That will be revealed soon so stand-da-funk-by!

Enjoy Friday!

That last mix was infested with glitches! :x

Now I know what happens when you rip audio from a severely scratched CD. I keep a soft copy in the back up drive and burn two hard copies on CD just case the back up drive fails, one for back up and another for playing. Unfortunately, I forgot to burn two this time.

So I compressed a proper copy of that mix and uploaded again for those of you who liked it. "Please Enjoy"

Then I will delete this mix and upload a new mix on Friday evening US time / Saturday morning Japan time.

J

Oh BTW,

The Peanuts Gang Theme is my Victory Music!

For many reasons, here just a few in no particular order:

- Charlie Brown is the underdog, a simple man, who's dog is much smarter than he is. . .

- He's determined to get his kite flying (like us with our EVs)

- Those kids are O.G.

- and mostly cuz that version is jazzy and life affirming..
