So i was wanting something i could ride with my son to the park. Anyone know a good place to find a good starter trike or quad cycle? Id prefer side by side. But this one has wierd front wheel brakes and no idea what material its droppits are made of. Also no idea why kits from companies are so exspensive. http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT-RKtll7aE8IOMArdP5GIjriYZWpIryZ2wYB_GBic340c-PZby6w

There is a kit optimized for trikes, but you still have a problem with the brakes. Since you replace the front wheel with a motor, you end up having to do something else for front brakes. Generally, adding a bolt on front caliper brake works easiest. Best though, would be to change or modify the fork to have a disc mount. Then you could run with a disc brake. You can also change the fork to a rim brake mount, and use v brakes.

But the kit is expensive, so forget it. You want one with shitty spokes, cheap ass controller, and no customer service at all from the company.

If you are looking for a similar trike elsewhere, worksman has one.

What kit from what company is it that you think is so expensive, and why? Some context to that statement might help us give you a better answer.

Keep in mind that pedal cars are illegal in many areas, or subject to all kinds of restrictive laws. So check your local laws before getting anything with 4 wheels. Side by side trikes are rare, so expensive.
If you want cheap, look at putting a trike kit on a tandem cruiser.

Hmm your tone is wrong.

These companies are selling motor kits, without giving any details on brands or batteries used, and charging outrageous prices (just one example) no idea what economy means in this sense, or what wheel it is on,or what brakes are used ....

This IS a Worksman trike...

The front brake is fine - drum brakes are a good choice, actually.

This trike has no common freewheel jack shaft. Instead it's like two bikes joined together with a split rear axle, each with its own IGH and rear coaster brake. They make the point in the name and in subtext that this is a TEAM bike, because if only one person pedals, only one wheel is driven (team effort). Braking is applied to the rear wheels independently by the two riders - hit the brakes on one side because of a pullout or ped in the park and the handling may be - entertaining.

Looks like a typical industrial Worksman bike - built like a brick ****house, thick spokes, heavy rims, and handful of custom parts thrown in. They apparently have a FWD electric kit for this.

Sorry I got snippy yesterday. I work for one of the companies who's kit is more expensive.

That is a worksman, a bike with the frame and wheels made in the USA. I just didn't see any logo in the picture. I suppose some parts are sourced from china, but they don't choose the cheap parts. Anyway, the trike is a good solid item, with a fork that can easily stand the front hub motor.

FWIW, E bikekit supplies the motors for the worksman electric bikes and trikes.

Having just put a small geared EbikeKit front motor on my wife's trike, and having several of their 9c clone motors, I can tell you that they are competitive with China in price and their service and replacement situations are excellent. The MXUS clone geared motor was cheaper with a rim than the same motor from China once shipping is included. Don't forget shipping.

The usual disclaimer, I have no vested interest in Ebikekit, only that I prefer to buy products that help support Americans.
Also it is fun to Echat with Dogman Dan at their website.

Perhaps not quite what you were after, but here is my "2-seater" e-assist trike:

With the rear wheel mounted further back than normal, it was possible to mount the passenger seat a bit lower than normal and with the titling functionality of the trike I can corner at high speed with a passenger without any stability issues.
