So I did sell it, I built a Giant Anthem with a MXUS XF08C rear cassette hub motor which was a 36v 250 watt unit, with a KT LCD 3 display and matching controller rated at 7 amps continuous and 15 amps max. So continuously we could get 250 watts and a maximum of 540 watts. The LCD 3 display did indicate the motor watts which were normally 85 - 210, but on a hill climb went easily up over 460 + watts, the law is a mess.
I saw a Raleigh Centros, a heavy looking bike, out of interest looked on the Raleigh website which said "The best size of motor for an electric bike will always be determined by the bike that it is designed to help power. For example, the Stow-E-Way TranzX motor we’ve mentioned above is 250w - that’s perfect for a smaller folding bike. For something bigger like a Motus or Centros, we use a Bosch motor which can range from 400-625w." Ho hum.
