Anyone know a good vet in Winnipeg or do they all need to be strung up by their thumbs for price fixing and immoral business practices? I have a friend being raked over the coals by an unscrupulous veterinarian up there. Almost $600 for 2 Xrays plus medicine to relax a puppy, and he insisted on being paid up front before giving any info or diagnosis. On top of that his diagnosis was "I don't know, come back Saturday." Saturday he offered an operation for thousands or amputate the leg for over $900. My friend finally got the Xrays he paid a fortune for, and sent them to an orthopedic vet, who said he'd need to examine the puppy to be sure, but based on the Xrays and age that it probably only needs to be tapped up for a few weeks and an operation could lead to problems down the road. Also, if an operation to put a screw and or wire to fix the fracture is required, it would be under $500.
I don't know what passes for service or business ethics in Canada, but the guy was very lucky it wasn't me and my dog seeing him.
