Bafang 250w conversion won't turn on

Hi
I fitted a Bafang 250w mid drive conversion to my Trek 6000 mountain bike 3 years ago.
This has worked really well until last weekend when it wouldn't turn on.
Battery is fully charged and shows 40v on a multimeter, only a 36v motor.
Not been moved from shed since last used a few weeks previous and no damage.
All connections secure.
Any suggestions please, or anyone recommend a bike shop in Kent/London that will look at a conversion.

Check the brake levers for continuity. A failed lever can shut down the system. Check the speed sensor, does the red led light up when the magnet passes?

Is it actually not turning on at all, no display? That usually indicates a battery problem.

What does the battery voltage read when it's connected to the controller, *after* you try to turn the system on?

(you may have to open the battery casing or cradle to access the pins to read this)
