can the Bafang BBS02 48V 500/750W Mid Drive Kit from em3 handle 48v 50A lipo battery pack, even though its rated at 25A and not 50?

A, or Ah? You might be mixing the two.

A is current, Ah is capacity.

That should work great

Battery needs a MINIMUM continuous discharge to meet your needs...the controller 'pulls' current to it's 25A max limit, the battery doesn't 'push' current at battery's 50A max limit.

Having double your required discharge capabilities will provide you with a nice always-cool unstressed pack that should last quite a while.
