Hi all
Wondering if I can get some help.
My Synchgo super monkey 750w Bafang motor (G062 750 20” wheel) gave up - the magnets unstuck in the rotor and it made an awful grinding noise…
I attempted repair but unfortunately allowed my magnets to get too close and 3 out of 20 chipped (2 slightly, 1 a whole chunk came off).
Looked and enquired everywhere and was unable to source new magnets, Thought screw it, I’ll order a new motor…
Found one, G062 750, pics had same housing and width( shallower disc brake mounting face
But they’re gone and sent me a g062 1000 with the wider disc brake mounting face, rated for 26-28” wheel.
I’m guessing I’ve been sent a 190mm drop out instead of a 175mm, and I expect I could stretch my rear end slightly to accept the extra 15mm as it usually springs out when I take off the wheel anyway.. but my questions are… will this still fit my bike and will my controller be able to control it. And will my display correctly register speed?
Also will it still have the wheel centred on my bike as the cassette mounting side seems to look the same size…
I wouldn’t mind a 1000w and it’s rather a hassle to return and source another motor as this was very well priced.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Alternatively, is the rotor likely to be the same size and swappable between the motors? So I could disassemble and take off the new rotor and fit onto my old motor?
Also both motors are rated as 48v, and I run a 48v battery. Thanks

If the motor inside is "the same", you can swap the bell rotors from one to the other, if all that's wrong is magnets on the first one.

The rotorsd may be held on by circlips, or they may be pressfit using "interference fit" which is tougher to deal with.
