I recently received a spare BBSHD controller and it came with a plug for the Gear Sensor System (GSS) and a remote sensor visually similar to a universal cable brake cutout sensor. I assume the shift cable passes through the housing and cable movement interrupts the motor.
However, I recall seeing somewhere that there were two sensors available: one type for deraileur equipped bikes and another for IGH bikes. Does anyone have any information about this, or how to tell the two types apart? I have both types of hubs on my ebikes so I can mount it to either one for a test if it makes a difference.
Personally, I have trained myself to back pedal a few degrees before shifting, but SWMBO could benefit, or at least the gears on her bike will be thanking me if it works!
