Bafang m200 with broken torque sensor and no new ones available.

Hello! Long time reader here but the first post for me.

I have a 1,5 year old 3000km ebike with a bafang m200 motor on it.
It started to have the classic signs of the torque sensor failing last fall and then the torque sensor stopped working all together with the error code "25" on the display all the time. Walk assist still works and I have opened the motor and unplugged the sensor and then the code goes away.
The problem is that I can't find a new torque sensor anywhere to buy and it's a different style than the other bafang m motors. Its a ring that wraps around the crank rather than integrated into the crank.

Do you guys have any tips on what I can do to get on the road again besides a motor swap? Is there a common fault with torque sensors that is repairable?
Do you think that I can swap the crank out for a new one with torque sensor built in?
If all else fails I have even been thinking about just rigging a simple separate controller to the motor and just control the assist with a throttle.
