Hello, I've been researching different mid-drive motors to see what is available besides what is sold by Luna. In doing so I've discovered that Bafang makes a motor they call the max that is smaller than the Ultra. May I ask what the difference is between the build quality if anything? Does anyone here have experience with the Bafang Max.

I've been looking to put together a "compact cargo bike" similar to the Cero found at cero.bike and have been hoping to find something that would turn out looking more "factory built" when finished. I know the owner of a local bike mountain bike manufacturer who has done welding for me as well as a local inexpensive frame builder who would also do some welding for me if I went with Ultra or Max or something else if I need a mounting plate welded.

One more thing any suggestions for frames to build onto for my project.

The Bafang Max is the older predecessor to the Ultra, it's quite a bit less power (350W I think, maybe 500W at 48V), but still more advanced than your typical BBS conversion motor. My buddy owns a Biktrix with the Max motor and it's a nice bike... But I prefer the Ultra for sure.
