Battery Box Continued... Nice weather.. finally.

Fascinating pictorial. But since dogs don't appear to feel embarrassment, I think Sir Woofsalot gets the last laugh. :)

Hey Y,

i'm loving that battery box - if i had yours or xysters battery knowledge that's exactly what i would do, mount them in a frame freindly formation so i caould get them on the bike without them looking like bombs :) i fancy single cell tubes mounted on the top frame but i dont have the kills needed to make a reliable pack :(
cannot wait to see the chaos in full summer knobbies ready to rip.
I love your dog he's a beauty - whats his breed?
by the way what happened to that chrome chopper you had, that was looking like a really cool build - shelved due to the norco rebuild?
looking forwardto comparing bikes in the summer - i should be test riding this coming weekend at 36v and hope to have the full 72 dc1 done as soon as knoxie has finished testing the modded controller with the puma :)
get her done mate - sleep is for wooses !!!! ;)

D

:D Great stuff! We need more dogs in our threads and our yards.
What an expression. I read "so what's it to ya?"

The box is looking ex-L-ent!

Sorry about the dead grass though.
I live in Florid a

So, what happened to it---I can't imagine.

speaking of dogs, yesterday I was riding my non-electric road bike through golden gate park...

was riding on a slight downgrade down the middle of the street doing probably around 25-30mph...

suddenly a large, unleashed dog which had been on the side of the street in the grass with its owner, sees me and runs into the street directly in my path 4-5 feet in front of me...

there was little i could do... I impacted the large dog at full speed and vaulted over him, flipped through the air and landed on the ground hard.

the dog acted uninnjured, but I suffered a significant road rash on my hip and some bruises.

the owner said she was visiting from out of town and thought it was OK to let her dogs off the leash in that location.... she was like "he's probably never seen a bike and was just curious"

I think the dog just wanted some action and decided to chase something... me... but instead of chasing, set himself up for a head on collision.

as far as I can tell, the bike is undamaged, but the head-on impact was forceful, and the fork is carbon and frame aluminum.... sigh.... so I don't know whether I need a new frame / fork.

stupid dog.

stupid dog.

A redundant phrase. The owner should be smarter, but wasn't. BAD owner...(rolling up newspaper) swat!

" She's " a Samoyed mix.. her name is Sandy. :p Just like a child.. spoiled rotten.. but i love her.

The Chopper is happening.. i just have to wait until my Crystalyte parts arrive as i don't dare spend any more money until i know how deep in the hole i end up.. :( -- should be all done by mid-summer.

sleep ?... what's that ? :D

Hey D !... that sucks.....

I don't EVER let my dog un-leashed unless i'm at the dog park ( fully enclosed fence ) or my own back yard ( fenced as well ) ..

I DO however have her trained to run next to me on the bike with a pulley leash and a harness.. great way to exercise an " Energetic Dog !!! aka: Samoyed's !! " She's good for 20 kms non-stop !

Must have been a big dog ??? yikes..

d (Devin?) must be a remarkably circumspect person. Really easy going.
Very glad you got through that crash OK. Sorry for the $$ parts question.
Glad the dog is OK. One of those unfortunate things for all concerned. The owner must've felt stricken.

Ha, though: HERE in Miami, Rude Capital of the World, the owner would've said:
"How dare you ride your bike so recklessly through a park!
I'm calling the cops. You will pay the vet bills for Pookie's check-up
and MRIs.

Just thought of a joke, really not much.

Let's see how to present it...

My dog is short legged mix, sedate; Petey has no idea how to play rough.
The other day in the park I saw a guy with a similar sized dog, yet polar opposite:
It was running and yapping and ripping about
and generally wearing down it's owner with a game of Frisbie Fetch. Huh!
My dog never throws Frisbies for me.

I say, "What a great dog. So full of snap."
Pete here is at about 20 pounds. And yours?
The guy responds without pause
"Runs 100 PSI ".

Petey Dog: a bump in the road that burglars beware

not sure if you're saying I could have been more cautious?

it was out of the question... I was in the middle portion of the street (not a trail or bike path)... the dogs (which are by law required to be leashed) were in the grass with owner...

as I approach, the dog, making full eye contact with me, intentionally runs in front of me like a bolt of lightning and then stopped directly in my path... I believe "it wanted to play" and didn't realise what a forceful impact it was about to endure.

d, you did nothing wrong.
My hypothetical story was to explain how rude and lying the jerks are in Miami Florida.

Like, the woman who turned her Lexus into the path of my oncoming Model T, and destroyed my car and almost killed me... first thing she did was jump out of her car, run around in circles in the huge intersection screaming in all directions:

"Did you see that? He hit my car! He ran the stop sign! He hit me!"
When, in fact, she made her left turn into the path of my slow moving car.

Enjoy a joke on me: I got skinned too---financially. Although my car was customized with tens of thousands of $ of inventive mods which I'd spent 12 years in devising and implimenting, and my car would run on the interstate highway at nearly 50mph, yet was basically stock,
the court would only see me paid the compensating price of a bare-bones shambling Model T. "A car is a car".

Now, if you had an insurance claim to press against some motorist or dog owner whose negligence destroyed your custom bike, the law in Florida,as it is liable to be applied by a judge,
says (say you started out with a $200 bike and built it up with parts and e-drive to the tune of $2000)

...the judge would award you $200 at most. They would make a joke of your carbon fork: "And we suppose it had a plastic spoon brake too?"

Come on Ypedal,
where the hell is our update? ;)
you know you gotta get the norco all ready to compare with my DC1 this summer :) i should get a ride this weekend so i'll update my own build too - dammit man i need more info/photo's and vids to feed my hunger!!!!
apologies to your lovely dog, i didn't realise she was a lady!!!!!lol totally gorgeous she is!!!

D

Lol.. am bogged down with ebike stuff ..

Got a last minute e-mail last night from someone 2 hrs away coming over tonight to test ride some ebikes.. so i had to get my ass in gear and polish up the folding bike with a 405...

AND

I FINALLY got the Giant back on the road.. went for a quick ride at 11pm last night.. holey christ that thing is fast.. 407 on the front forks in a 26" wheel.. at 48v nicad... Now i understand why Knightmb can travel so fast with a 406 in a 700 C !!!!...

The norco is getting work done tonight.. mounting SECURELY to the frame is not an easy task.. i could bolt it on quickly.. but i want to make sure it STAYS put... ( Yes.. i plan to try and jump this thing... it will be on video !! lol )

HAHA,
i can't really point the finger then sounds like your at it a lot more than me.
im looking forward to seeing the norco in action this summer so get some vids done for sure - once im up to speed i may just have to get one of those cool straight to sd card small cams and post some myself from the forest runs.
yes take your time and get things right, i have a few odd bits to do but i could lash and dash :), im going for the former as ive waitied a long time for my bike so a couple more days won't hurt.
post as you go - i love the build pics.
