Battery not reading right

Hi

I have a 72v battery with battery indicator. The indicator keeps reading that it’s 100% charged but the bms says it 30% charged anyone. The bms is the correct reading so I changed the battery meter as I thought it might be that but it’s still the same any ideas cheers

Are you able to measure the battery voltage with a voltmeter?

If a separate independent voltmeter measuring the actual battery voltage shows the expected voltage to match the BMS reading, then:

Most likely the battery meter is for a 48v or 60v system, not a 72v.

Or it has settings that can be changed and it's set to the wrong one.

(a 72v system would be 84v full, assuming it's non-lifepo4 lithium 20s, and around 60v-ish empty...so a 48v meter would show full even if a 72v battery was empty, and a 60v meter should show full above maybe 20-30%).
