Battery pack on Panasonic NCR18650B cell

Nice work :)

Here it goes again. Fu*k, fu*k, fu*k, what the fu*k is wrong with those Chinese? Bought 56 NCR18650B cells, got 48 + fu*k knows what others. Second purchase with them second fu*k up. Fu*k

This is bad even before i start testing them, might be dry or something else like 20AH A123 i got from them. Fu*k..

No, i am talking with them at the moment to send me out 8 Panasonic cells, if they will agree all is bad but not totally fuc*ked. Those grey ones are LG 2000mah cells so even if i was dumb enough to mix them i wouldn't because capacity.

I try to make battery with recycled laptop cells. Quite same thing than "Fu*k, fu*k, fu*k..." ;) I wondering that maybe one important thing is that i should find same kind off cells for parallel? If there are in series different kind of cells pack will be that weak than the worst parallel pack is? Am i right?

How about number of parallel cells when we look discharge current. How much i should over sizing parallel when we look nominal max values? I wondering that should 4p enough if i use 5A cells and 350W 18A motor (BBS01 Bafang MID Crank Motor)? (5p NCR18650B nominal max current is 32,5A)

OK, got it all tested. Dont know about checking the gate if its fully open but from negative to left leg returns 9V with or without load. There are 8 mosfets and 4 on the same side as damaged one do not work returning 0V. My assumption is that 20A (4x5A a mosfet) is top limit.
I have attached the brake and was simulating load to check draw, and max it was sucking was 24A.
I suppose this was what caused it to burn out.
i have a vid, will add it when its uploaded...
i think i will order a bigger one from Henry, the 35A one HCX-D100: http://bestechpower.com/37v10spcmbmspcbforli-ionli-polymerbatterypack/PCM-D100.html

The balancing function did work properly as it balanced the pack within .00.

Do you use now this one BMS? Where did you by it?

Can I use mine chinese 2A charger for it?
(Came with the crap battery (look pictures).http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=51212&p=774647#p774647 )

Very nice thread thanks. I am building a huge 22s9p pack with the same battery and have been speaking to Henry too. LOL If you were to do it again now would you change something any pointers to add now?

Thanks

I would change the cell I have used. Althou weight of that cell is best higher count of P is required. They are best at .2C .5C is the limit for them in my opinion. With your 30AH pack max draw must be limited to 15A at best.

Scratching my head, I am seeing plenty of test in ecig forums and RC forums that they are 2c 6.8a You are scaring me lol I just ordered 220 of them as I was able to fit very comfortably 22s10p in the Torque Raptor to use with a Cromotor v3. I am hoping to get good torque and over 50mph bursts. I am hoping to get 68a continues if needed. Am I dreaming did I put a decimal point wrong somewhere? LOL

New batteries behave nice, give em 50 cycles in described conditions and real world catches you up. Let space for parallel Nanotech string 3-5Ah and enjoy until capacity sucks, due to degradation. :D

Now I understand. Makes sense now. Thanks

I've used these in my new Bomber battery. It's a very large pack at 16S14P - sounds like yours is about the same number of cells - what is your config?

Mine provides 50A no problem. I haven't pushed it to 60A but I doubt there would be any issue (but that's with 14P). What you do have to be very careful of is charge rate. Don't charge them at more than 0.3C or you will drastically lower their capacity. I actually charge mine slower than that with a UNA9 balance charger at only 0.6A per cell. I'll get around to posting a build thread soon.

Thanks for the info, I have a source for $8.00 per cell for the Panasonic NCR18650B. I have since then switched to the Sony 18650vtc5 that can provide 20amp continues. I am waiting for their arrival.
