I own a Promovec retrofit e-bike kit. The battery does not charge anymore (specs enclosed. My dealer says the company does not exist any more. Idaelly, I would like to rewplace the battery with a small and lighter model adn ove that is chargable witha USB port so I don't have to carry heavy charges while travelling.
Any suggestions for me?

Even the most advanced USB chargers these days top off at about 200-250 watts, which is still great, but usually not enough to charge an ebike battery in what most people would consider a reasonable timeframe. People want it though, and it's technically possible, so we might see it someday. Just not currently.

That would be USB PD PSS. I've only heard about the spec but never seen a charger based on it. Any linkage? (USB C (5v) will never be able to charge ebike.)

I don't have a link, like you, I've read about it and I'm sure it's available somewhere. But I haven't personally seen one for sale.

I bought a laptop 2 years ago with USB C charging. 65W at 20V. Died in a year, because the USB C port wasn't very durable, especially as a power connector, and the port wore out. The USB C plug has so much tech built into it, that replacing the socket was impossible, so I got another laptop and just had enough charge to transfer my stuff to the new one. Such a poor choice for a power connector in my opinion.

There are two of these batteries for sale on eBay right now, $350 and $500. If you trust the bizarre scam site quanta vici, they claim to have one for $300, but I will say I had an annoying time trying to buy something through them and their required installment payment provider Sezzle, though I did eventually get my money back…

PD Chargers have a Type "C" connector and communications protocol. The default if it can not establish protocol is 1 Amp at 5 volts (USB-3 type "A" standard). PD 3.1 devices it can go up to 48 Volts and 240 Watts. FYI: I have several of them. They are generally smaller and more efficient than those damned wall warts.
