EM3ev is based out of Changzhou, China, and is managed and operated by a British owner with an Engineering Background.tomjasz said:This latest availability of cheap batteries is pretty new. Just a few years ago a $300 pack was unheard of. Did the cost of materials go down or did the market use cheaper materials?
China is essentially held harmless for any disasters. Standards are coming. But UL ratings are an expensive undertaking. Expect to pay more.
Most all of the most popular brand name A-grade 1865/2170 cells (including those used in EM3ev batteries) are manufactured either in China or Asia. So, how is EM3ev held accountable for any cell problem when "China" (e.g. LG) "is essentially held harmless" ?
Checking the EM3ev website ... https://em3ev.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAlp2fBhBPEiwA2Q10D6h2MtJ9X0lWUh0M1U-j0p26E40cczrSwS98DgMGFLAYduU6NRZrQxoCKHcQAvD_BwE ... they only show batteries with a protective case. 48V e-scooters just use a blue shrink wrap battery like those blue shrink wrap UPPs that would fit as a replacement in his 48V Chaos e-scooter. That's if he should decide it's worth the effort and price to convert from SLA to Li-ion.
WHY doesn't EM3ev list any 48V 12Ah to 20Ah basic shrink wrap packs when they are so popular as a 48V replacement for e-scooters?
What do you think is the approximate cost for EM3ev to fabricate a 48V 15Ah basic shrink wrap pack with trustworthy quality cells and BMS? If you can't even venture a guess and have never taken the time to find out then ... WHY all your hype about the OP buying a shrink wrap pack from EM3ev for his used 48V Chaos e-scooter??
Leads one to believe that you may have some ulterior motivation for your fidelity to EM3ev.
