BBC Shock and Awe The Story of Electricity

The show said:
In 1803, Galvani's nephew, Giovinni Aldini came to London with a terrifying new experiment ... Aldini started his macabre work. Using a voltaic pile, he began to apply an electric current to the dead man's body. Aldini put one electrical conductor in the dead man's anus and the other at the top of the spine. Foster's dead body sat bolt upright and his spine arched and twisted. For a moment, it seemed as if the dead body had been brought back to life. It seemed as if electricity might have the power of resurrection.
Remember Shelly's Frankenstein? Little did we know the story was based on a real experiment and at the time, an ascendent theory. That image, lol,

yes I always loved the story of Frankenstein. The name itself dates from the time when she was on a river in Germany underneath the Castle and someone pointed out Castle Frankenstein to her. at that time, doctors all over the place were experimenting with corpses and putting large voltages into the muscles to see what happens! Probably the newspapers had articles alike-headless corpse comes back to life in amphitheatre-

Thanks for the wiki! I didn't realise that's the programmes dated from 2008!
