BBS01 vs BBS02?

Hi, I have some questions about Bafang BBS01 and BBS02. I'm not sure if I want 250w, 350w, 500w or 750w.

1. What are the approximately max speed difference between them?
2. Is BBS01 or BBS02 more reliable than the other?
3. Does the driving range differ a lot between 250w, 350w, 500w and 750w? How much? (Approx)
4. I want to have my bike outside, does BBS01/02 tolerate rain?
¨
This is what I want:

I want a reliable bike to use every day to work/school. The legal limit in my country is 250w and 25km/h. But I want faster speeds than that. Maybe 35-40km/h would be a more prefered max speed for me (on flat ground, with pedaling). I want longest possible driving range on a single charge possible. What do you recommend me to buy?

Welcome!

you will find this thread very informative

Basically the driving range will depend on your drive style. Of course a BBS02 at 48V will let you the chance to make a heavier behaviour, but you can save energy well if you light drive.

For your requirements the BBS01 would be more than enough, of course both motors/controller combos are waterproof.

Capacity and quality of the battery will be the determinant element for your max range

welcome to the forum !

I have both the 36v and 48v versions ( 350w / 500w )

The 48v version is noticeably more powerful, and the 48v battery is also more expensive.. However, the 36v is plenty adequate if you use the gears properly (* instead of leaving it in the highest gear all the time like most people do )

Range entirely depends on how much you pedal and if you keep the speeds down relative to the battery size you go with.

36v 10ah = 30 km range typical with little to almost no pedaling... fairly flat land, 180 Lb rider .. no winds.

What are the driving range if you do the same thing with the 500w?

The difference in price is not a problem.

With Panasonic battery:
500w = 607 euro
750w = 633 euro

With Panasonic battery:
350w = €567.59

Not a huge difference.

The motors pull the exact same amount of power when running at the same speeds, so the range can be exactly the same.
The 750watt motor just has the ability to pull more power and go faster, climb harder, or accelerate faster. When it does any of those things, it will shorten the range .

It's almost a law, if you have more power, you will use it. So your range will be shorter. However, if you can keep from using the extra power in the bigger motor, then your range will be the same.
