I don't see how those desires fit into the drive force behind what happened at the Capitol bldg unless you conclude that those people feel power over their own lives being taken from them and they desire it back, but I wouldn't consider that an insatiable desire for power.

Like Freud's ideas, it's too simplistic in my view.

well, no, don't take the extreme view. I mean if I had the little niece or nephew at my house and there was a real problem I'd be rushing the child to the hospital less than a mile from me. It would have nothing to do with insatiable desires for power. But it's not really in what's being explained to apply it to self protection or helping others, I don't really think.
