Hi i recently bougt this to batterys for my 250 watt ebike , for getting longer range. I will have it mounted on the luggage rack on the bike. Do you guys think its a smart idea to get some kind of bms solution for it , or is it better to charge the battery and balance them? what is best for cycle life?

I was thinking of maybe making a plastic bag and keep the batterys around foam, and then mount it on the luggage rack. is that an good idea?

hope to hear some ideas.

I have advocated for years, to protect all pouch type packs somehow. So even when I have a hard box to carry in, I still put an inner, very tight fitting box around the pouches.

Lots of stiff thin protective materials are out there, Masonite, plastic sheets, but my favorite is old political signs or other coroplast signs I find in the ditch along the roads.

Cut, fold, tape, so 5 sides are covered. This helps a lot, the plastic then takes any chafing caused by a screw head, or other rub point in the bag or box you carry it in.

BMS arguments rage all the time. But bms or no, the best lifespans seem to be tied to two things. Temperature you store it at, and storing less than fully charged. Followed by not abusing it, like overdischarge or overcharge. Lastly, in general, all batteries like a low discharge rate better than a high one.
