I've got an Aspire One - powered by AC adaptor putting out 19V 2 amps. What's the best way of hooking up my netbook to the bike?

I gather that 48V DC "could" hook directly up to my AC Adaptor and the adaptor will output the same as it does now on AC wall voltage?

Thanks...but your explanation is too complicated for me. Can I just hook the Ping directly to the AC wall plug? I've heard these power AC power supplies for laptops work like a DC/DC converter..

Lots of switch mode power supplies will run off much lower voltages than the sticker claims. If it says something like 100-240VAC on the sticker, it will likely work down to about 60V, sometimes even 50V or lower. You MIGHT be running enough voltage for that to work. It shouldn't damage the supply by running it off a 48VDC battery, but it is possible.

The cheaper the power supply, the more likely it will work. You can pick up a cheap power brick off eBay that fits your netbook, and try it out right off your battery. Polarity should not matter.

I have a 48v LiFePO4 pack. I installed a converter for 12v. Among other accesories I installed a cigarette lighter. I use it for charging purposes. Mainly my phone. But any adapter for your car will work with the cigarette lighter.
