I just bought a used electric bike with a 36v motor and battery.
The controller is broken and the it isnt wired as in there are no connectors on any of the wires.

I found this cheap controller on ebay but dont know if its possible to use a pedal sensor with it.

Just to add to the info above, if you count the number of wires coming out of the motor -

2 thick wires = brushed.
3 thick wires = brushless.
3 thick wires and 5 thin wires = brushless with position sensor.

This will tell you if you need a brushed or a brushless motor.

Anyway, you've indicated it's 36v DC brushed, so I'll go from there -

No. The controller you've picked out does not support a PAS. I've never seen a PAS to Throttle converter ( though I've seen Throttle to PAS converters ) so I guess it's not common.

Perhaps someone else can suggest something else? Otherwise, it's not that difficult to install a throttle and the item you've referenced has one included. Is there any reason you don't want to use that?

Regards
David

I know the difference and its a brushed motor which is why I've linked to a brushed controller. I thought I'd put that in the thread post after writing but obviously not. lol

Can anyone link to a better 36V controller that will be more suitable? Ideally I want PAS and a throttle.

You can find 36v brushed controllers with PAS, but you have to do a lot of hunting because most don't have PAS.

Does anybody know where you can get them from to save time searching?

No PAS wire for that controller, so no easy way to put PAS on it.

But once you have it, and you show a good clear picture of it inside, there are guys here so smart they could tell you which place to solder on the wires, IF the controller has that function, unused.

Coin toss whether it will or wont have unused pads on the controller, for PAS.

If you just must have PAS, keep on hunting on ebay, or whatever for one that has the PAS wires on it.

I can solder and stuff but other than power connectors I don't want to modify a controller much better to find one with pas.

It came with a controller but I only had a battery and hub motor to connect to. The controller blew when I connected it with a lot of smoke.

Usually that means you got + and - wrong when you hooked it up. I've done the same thing, with controllers that had a red wire coming out, that happened to be the - wire. That was typical of all the wilderness energy brand kits. But then I'd got a forget about that quirk, and blow another one.

Happy hunting. Try ebay, and places like Bms battery. Trouble is, most of the brushed stuff left is for scooters, and no pedals on them.

Some of the Currie ebikes had brushed controllers with PAS. Their replacement stuff isn't super cheap, but might work.

This one looks like it might have a PAS connector. I think I can see red, white and black as well as red, green and black. You need to ask the supplier to confirm.
