So I have been really mucking around with gimbals and working stuff out with my quadcopter.

I wanted to know if anyone here has tried to put a camera gimbal on their ebike for super smooth footage ?

Filming today involved a gimbal on deathbike. :)

All that gear belonged to the BBC and you will have to wait to see the footage. I don't know when it releases.

check this out, something to make if you have some servos laying around, you can use a $15 multiwii board to do this as well

Just an update. I got the gimbal this week, and while I haven't had time to shoot any video with it yet, I did hook it up long enough to see that it works.

First impression: It works. Glitchy, and not silky smooth. But it's a $59.99 fully functional gimbal. Back when I worked on broadcast cameras, an auto stabilized gimbal was a $50,000 piece of equipment.

Here's a link for the mount http://www.goodluckbuy.com/dji-phan...roller-for-gopro3-fpv-aerial-photography.html

Can I see how you have it attached?

are you using the vibration balls? You will probably need to remove that part and just put all the load on the gimbal.
But you might need to use some kind of anti vibration padding under the board for the gyro

Im waiting for a $51 super awesome aliexpress.com version
I wonder what kind of forces it can be subjected to

Sorry, no pics of it attached. I took it off to mount it to my quadcoptor now. I had used it's mounting holes to screw it to a Gopro arm segment and used a GP handlebar mount.

And yeah, still using those balls. it did bounce around on them a lot. But I was more concerned by the sudden tilts to the right when it took a hit, (its balanced when off) and the fact that it would start slowly leaning left or right all on it's own. The gyro may be crap. But I'll see how it does on a quad first. It was built for a quad.

Recent hang gliding gimbal vid. Gives a closer idea to what it really is like.

Hi,

Canon and Sony camcorders with optical image stabilization work very very well.

that's good to know!!!
can you recommend a good small camera ?

im over using gopro's, and smaller cameras,
I would like to setup a small camera with optical zoom so I can Park the quadcopter in the sky, and move around with the gimbal and zoom in and out

There is a deal on the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera right now. $500 off.

Hi,

I shot quite a bit of video and from 1985 to 1997, for nonprofits. In 1996, when we bought the first generation Sony DV camcorders (VX1000's) we were all very impressed with the optical image stabilization. We could get great shots, like smooth shots walking backwards, that we could never get before. I don't know what camera to recommend now, but I would check out Sony and Canon cameras with optical image stabilization.

Yeah, funny how it just seemed so unobtainable.

Optical zoom you can attachment remote control to? Can't imagine you can afford it.

Here's a GoPro gimbal.

I can afford that. Generally done with a $3 servo .
I just got the go pro hero 3 + black. Soon to get the black magic ..I really want to compare them

100€ 3 axis gimbal on cheap second hand DJI phantom with GOPRO 3+ black
For some shots we used the phantom as a handle for the gimbal, worked quite well!

I reaaly would like to test this gimbal on a helmet :D

I was about to buy a phantom the other day and came across a thread referencing a popular Gimbal for good price at hobby king.
