Canada? Is it for me?

Here's a crappy paint chop of the van that I got offered in trade:

Here are some pics...

Is the green one w/top rack your new RV? :?: Got any pics of your new rig?

How much savings do you have now, just cash on hand not items remaining to sell, if you left tomorrow? :?: (Got an idea, but need to know your cash situation.)

As soon as I get rid of everything and have enough cash to get up to the NW coast, I'm going to head that way. There are a few farms and intentional communities that I really want to check out and I have some friends up that way too.

RV looks good.

Man, you're living on "the edge" for quite some time now. I'm sure you realize that with so little savings you're going to be very near on the edge of being homeless, especially, if your RV has some serious repair issues. I think you'll be very lucky to get 15mpg on average with that rig. That's going to be $800 in fuel to get to Canada with all your stops along the way. Plus, food for you and the dogs. I think you're going to need at least $1,500 to do this trip, otherwise you're likely to get stuck somewhere & have to find work FAST. But with your health issues, that does not seem possible or realistic, IMO. You should be prepared that you will likely be stranded somewhere without enough money to go on. Since you have been homeless before, I know you know what that means for you & your 2 dogs. Are you living far too close to the edge of a cliff? You don't want to be driving off that cliff...

You might consider how to prevent this seemingly established pattern of consistently being too close to the edge by changing your lifestyle patterns that keep circling you back to being near homeless. Otherwise, how are you going to cycle yourself out of these desperate situations? :?:

Sincerely, I hope you get a run of luck and find a way to make some money consistently for real, 8) not just odd jobs, otherwise you're going to be recycling this unhealthy lifestyle of being too near the edge of homelessness wherever you are located. Bummer. :?

(Sorry, this is all too preachy sounding. That sucks. :? )

Hey, if it gets too hot just go to Flagstaff & chill out! You could earn money in the cool there. 8) Plus, in that town you could move your rv around to overnight it; plenty of travelers & rv's move through there.

When you leave start a thread on your travels. It will be interesting to see what happens. Will you make it to Canada, stay on a commune or farm, suffer a major setback, find work that pays good, you are on "the edge"... :D

It's interesting that you can just chuck it all up for grabs... probably, a lot of us fantasize about just living on the road & traveling a bit, so it'll be a fun summertime pass time to see what happens...

I don't envy that. I don't want to live on the edge. I've had my adventure or rock climbing, bridge jumping, downhill skateboarding, big wave surfing (Sunset Beach, Hawaii), Mexico a hundred times (including hitch hiking in Baja), and a lot of pranks and wild stunts. But being homeless isn't my cup of tea. I've been through every part of the American desert and seen how depressing it can be for the wanderers. The ultimate dumping grounds is Bombay Beach on the Salton Sea. It's a mess. It's about as third world/Mad Max as it gets, and you'll find plenty of people who want to blame everyone else for their crappy lives.

Work is a good thing, especially hard work.

Hey, I think you've worked it all out of your system over time. You got to experience all your "wild hairs", found out what you needed to or didn't need to, and then went on to your "next" quest, though, quite different from your previous life or lifestyle.

I have a quandary about mdd0127, since he's been up for work confidently in posts just previous to this about living & working on "the edge" but also down on finding it reliably for a very long time now. Seems like years, maybe.

He must have some more wild hairs to seek & find before the haircut & shave of "the edge" wearing him up and/or down. Whatever. He just doesn't want a normal life with a job that ties him down. A wanderer, he is, it seems. Very few women will live that lifestyle for very long, so it looks like long-term relationships w/sex are well out of the prospects too. Not many women will travel on the road as a pick-up anymore; if that was even really "for real" way back when back in the day. Though, he's already accepted and figured that out too. :D 8)

Here's a thought mdd0127... maybe find someone on Craig's list or on some travel lists that want to travel somewhere, then you could meet-up, decide to "go for it", and share the gas money at least.

I thought I finally had a chance to possibly get some recognition and stability in this world with my e-bike dream but all it did was show me a bunch more about what's wrong with the "normal" world.

Don't feel bad about that. You have seen that thread with all the failed EV companies? :?:   Hell, all you did was join the club with the widest possible majority in your favor.

I want no part of it other than bouncing along the sidelines until I get to laugh at it all coming crashing down.

Unless we're nuked, bioweaponed, or have a natural disaster "dust bowl" asteroid event, this old scammy world will keep on truck'n your money away. America thrives on bubbles & crashes; its necessary for the so called creative or self-destruction to stick to someone. Depression, recession, and a tiny bit of not so good "good times" is what it's all about. :p

I'm sure there will be beautiful crazy ladies out there along the way that are intrigued by the handsome, crazy traveler nerd but I'm not going to find them in Camp Verde! Hopefully I can figure out how to scare them off quickly once I've got what I needed from them! If I meet a cool chick that has her own rv and means of supporting herself, she can tag along as long as there's no drama but I have a feeling that those types are few, far between, and probably crazier than I am so I won't be holding my breath.

Hell I can't wait to retire. Need mo money. Then I'll kick back like mdd0127. I called in sick today cause I didn't want to deal with the stress.
