I own a Busettii Big 50 electric bike and I just love it except for one thing. Every time the rear wheel rotates it clicks and clicks on each revolution of the rear tire. I have tried placing one drop of oil where the spokes cross....no luck there. I know its not from the hub motor because when I turn the hub motor completely off and just ride it like a normal bike it still goes click click click. I have tightened and trued every spoke also but still click click click. Does anyone in this forum have any ideas what it might be from and how I might silence it forever? Thanks for any ideas or help you can give me.

Probably the freewheel mechanism. If it's a geared hub, then there is probably one inside the hub in addition to any that is on the chain drive.

It could be any number of things. Since you mention that it's a click, instead of a more scrape scrape sound every revolution I still suspect the spokes. You have enough weight all on the back, to make even properly adjusted spokes talk.

I'd think the sound would be more like a scraping noise if it was the back of the freewheel rubbing the motor, but check that too for sure. That is common, and sometimes you need a freewheel washer behind the gears. I have had loose magnets inside the motor make noises, but again I was hearing a scrape sound, and it went away as I got up to speed and the magnet moved over.

Have you an odometer on that wheel? the magnet hitting the sensor can make a click every revolution.

Try turning your bike upside down or putting it in a stand to get the rear wheel off of the ground. Once the rear wheel is free to rotate try spinning it by hand and see if you get any noise, if not try spinning it through the pedals. You should be able to get pretty close to hear where the sound is coming from.
Some possibilities are if it is a double walled rim you could have a nipple or little rock floating around in there, it could also be a problem with the freewheel or the motor.
If you notice no sound unless the rear wheel is loaded with your weight then it is most likely a spoke tension problem.
If you only hear it when you pedal it could be a frozen link on your chain.
Good luck!

I finally stopped that click click click sound. After oiling all cross spokes with no success I used white grease stick on every spoke in the wheel and on the hub motor....so it had to be one of these that was my headache.....its so quiet now I am a happy camper now....Thanks everyone for your suggestions though.....Have a good ride! http://endless-sphere.com/forums/images/icons/smile/mrgreen.gif
