With the Bafang rear hub motor(RM G060.750) there is a problem removing the cassette cogs because there is no lockring tool with a center bore that will fit over the power cable and axle locknut (21.5mm diameter at the points) to reach the lockring. Any suggestions besides a hammer and punch?

There's definitely freewheel removal tools with a big hole through the center:

I have some with a big hole and some not. No clue about cassettes. Some older bikes I used a pin spanner - a y shaped wrench with two pins poking down that engage with two indents on a lock ring. Could check for those too.

Ok. I went to E-bikes Forum and found this information. Apparently this problem is unique to Bafang 750W rear hub motors. Area 13 bikes sells an American made (small production) removal tool, but it is pricey. May be worth it to some (like me)

I’ve cut one short, and bored out another. Can’t remember my methods - was so long ago - but it wasn’t difficult, the steel’s not particularly hard.

As above with @ glennb, I drilled the appropriate tool out once years ago.

I figured other people would’ve done the same, it seems the obvious thing to do.

It’s possible that expensive ones are hardened and would be difficult to modify, although that’d make them brittle and prone to cracking, so I doubt it. Still, probably sensible to use the cheapest ones.

Couple of bucks from aliexpress vs $50 for the “bafang” one. Hmmm. Don’t even want to know what park tool asks for theirs … might give me a heart attack.
