Castle controller data logging: No Ripple voltage!?

So having fried my previous HV160 I wanted to try and trouble shoot what might have caused it, and get a better overall idea of how everything is behaving.

My suspicion was I killed it (bogging it at high throttle and tall gear) , or failure due to capacitors giving up.

With the new controller I charged up my 14S4P (1x2s pack + 3x4s packs) 20Ah turnigy hardcase packs. I charge to 4.17V per cell. I have a 6kw tangent kit. I have the max current set to 110A on the CA.

I set the logging to 10Hz and took the bike for a 6 minute ride. I was moderate to heavy on the throttle but in easy gears.

Looking at the logged data I was shocked to find that there is minimal ripple voltage.
Max ripple=0.05V occurred at about 95sec with heavy throttle and 100A. I also periodically got off the bike and touched the controller and felt the caps for heat, none.

Is this a true reading? This amount or ripple seems very low to me. Should I retest with a 50-75% depleted pack? Or are my cells just that good.

I don't know anything specific about your controller, but if you're trying to measure ripple from MOSFET switching, 10Hz is way too slow to catch the details. You'd ideally want to use an oscilloscope for this kind of thing, but if you have a multimeter that can record max/min voltages you could have that monitor the input power to your controller and see what voltages it reaches.

Thanks for thatit makes some sense like that when you mention it but there are lots of guys monitoring their ripple with the on board data logging from what I gather.... Unless they are using an alternate source of logging that I missed.

Here is the data from todays ride. I set the rate to 2hz
