Anyone Try a "Charger" e-bike?

It looks like a pretty nice design as far as having a 7 speed hub that is driven by the pedals and motor. The price seems rather decent for such a bicycle at $750, hell a decent bike with a 7 spd rear hub will run $350 at least.

Seems like the "pedal assist" controller could be easily defeated with a throttle, The batteries are of course just SLA, but with that bike and nicer batteries and a new controller I bet she'd move at a good clip and have the gearing to be able to take hills without much trouble.

Just curious as it seems like a decent option for a base.

I think there's only 1 freewheel in the hub so when the motor spins, it will spin the crank and force you to peddle.

Looks functional, never tried one...

Here's how one user overrides the Charger's 20-mph limit (and goes up to 28mph):
1) Move the speed sensor on the left chainstay toward the front and pointing outward.
2) Stick a magnet to the inside of the left pedal crank near the pedal.
3) Align the speed sensor with the magnet on the pedal crank so the controller still senses rotation but never sees "20 mph".

And here's some better pics, with the covers off and such:

You're right. I have a Charger and if you were to drive the motor chain it would cause the peddles to spin as well.
