I just recently bought 8 of these lifepo4 batteries from hobbyking-

I thought these batteries were an incredible value for their price.

I bought a switching power supply the same as this one for charging my batteries. I have already confirmed that the power supply can produce the appropriate voltage for charging the batteries my question is will this somehow over charge the battery if left there. I figured no more wattage would flow into the battery pack after the voltage equalizes between the power supply and battery because of the equation W=V*A. Please correct me if im wrong i dont want to ruin 400 dollars worth of batteries!

You might note that these packs come with balance plugs. How do you plan on balancing them while charging? The charger will will work fine though as long as you don't adjust it up too high.

if they are not balanced during charging they will be ruined by overcharging and if there is no protection from over discharging they will be ruined then too. you need to use a BMS to protect the cells and to balance them.

if you are in the US, i have several types of 24S lifepo4 BMS you can use. either headway, or bestechpower.

you really have just 12s worth of battery's right
He bought 8 3s packs and an 84V PSU. He has to wire them all in series for 24s if he wants to charge with the PSU he bought. The packs are configured 3s2p and are rated at 30C. Not a problem if they will do even half that. I've heard HK's lifepo4 packs are way over rated. I don't know.
