Hi
Anyone know of any manufacturers of Public Charging Station equipment?

I work at an airport and suggested to my boss that when the newest parking facility gets made that we introduce some electric charging stations. Ones with some revenue generation abilities and/or at least monitoring of consumption.

He said he liked me thinking outside the box and also that his boss (the mayor) was always interested in 'green' initiatives.

So, lest this great idea gets tossed to the heap of good intentions/no rewards, I'd like to be able to site some real world applications and manufacturers.

Nice. I can't site any brands, but I'd think even a crude parking meter style system where you pay a quarter for a set amount of time would work out well for all.

A wonderful idea hopefully not before its time. As a former frequent flyer into Syracuse I appreciate what is probably still a very nice airport with adequate parking and good restaurants plus the easy hop to Liverpool and Heides hot dog stand. (I just had a dozen pounds of Hoffmans coney's delivered)

Determining the type of connection will likely prove the most difficult but the equipment is already readily available in the market place once you determine the connections needed. If you check with any of the larger marinas in your area, likely on Lake Ontario around Oswego or marina supplies you can find on a Google search you'll find that a lot of marinas use such devices for slips that have permanent residents. At a marina it's usually 30 or 50 amp connections with a separate meter. The connections are in weatherproof boxes, Marinco is a consistently good brand. They are available in most any size you can imagine from 110 volt, 15 amp on up to over 100 amps. It would be easy enough to make any of them coin/dollar operated.

Right now there aren't many Teslas out there but the connections I see on their website look proprietary, hopefully other EV's wouldn't be. The hard thing, again, would be determining the type of outlet needed. Vandalism isn't normally an issue at a marina but has potential at a public parking garage and that could be an issue. Someone needs to be a leader in this field and who know, you may be it.

Good luck, Mike

How well did that inductive thing they used for the EV1 (?) work? Seems to me that that could be a very vandal proof/shock proof connection.
