total noob. i've been researching a new build / complete ebike and have narrowed it down to 3 options:

1) 2016 specialized turbo X (wait for a sale) https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/turbo-x-usa/106891
2) BBSHD on a hardtail Trek 8.6 DS http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/city-bikes/dual-sport-bikes/ds-series/8-6-ds/p/2348600-2016
3) BBSHD on a hardtail Cube Acid 27.5 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/cube-acid-27-5-hardtail-bike-2016/rp-prod139580

i'm using as a commuter in NYC. i currently have a 2015 izip dash and love it but i want a new toy :). My main issue with the dash is the brakes, and i can't find anyone in NYC to swap out it's mechanical disk brakes for some nicer hydraulic ones. also, i wouldn't mind better all-around performance.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I don't see why a swap couldn't be done. Are the brake levers you have currently integrated with the shifters or throttle? Did the shops give you any reason?

What kind of performance gains are you looking for, compared to your current bike? Speed, range, acceleration?

How much do you want to "tinker" with your new bike? (Buying pre-built vs. building yourself.)

the levers have a motor cutoff. i know there are hydraulic brakes i could swap that would be compatible, but the shops i've reached out to don't want to deal with it. there aren't many shops in NYC that service ebikes. anyway, it's kinda my excuse to shop around for a new toy.
i do like the Specialized Turbo X, but the price is a bit much and it doesn't offer the throttle that my Dash has, which i love.
i typically ride in a lower level of assist and use the throttle when i need a quick boost, so i'm mainly looking for acceleration/performance.

i don't plan to do much tinkering at all as i am terrible with these things. i plan to get a BBSHD kit with battery, etc.

thanks a lot

Take a look at this, this is good way to upgrade Juin Tech R1 Cable Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brakes

If you have disk brakes it is a 10 minute job.
