CNN is looking for some seriously blinged, chopped, hacked and hot-rodded E-Bikes.

so far only Justin of ebikes.ca has made a submission. i figure this is the forum with some of the most radical stuff. so Doctor, Recumpence and Jester should at least get some major recognition from these folks.

just click on the link above to make your submissions.

i just wanted to make sure that nobody missed it. it is to great an oppourtunity not to take advantage. who knows someone here might get their "15 minutes of fame" from this.

No worries guys..

I locked the other threads and linked it all here to try and keep the conversation in one place instead of spread all over.. The intention was good, but we really should try to avoid multiple copies of posts.

..

Looks like CNN is going after the social networking crowd, " link my CNN to facebook " lol.. no better way to spread news than to have 100,000's of people contribute for free.. just like youtube is expanding at an insane rate, CNN wants their piece of the pie, bonus is that they have a TV network already established !.

lesss,

i would expect no less from a guy who wants nuclear batteries. reminds me of the 1984 Ghostbusters movie and the guy from the EPA who shuts down their illegal reactor and sets free all of the ghosts.

though you could be correct, i suspect that they are more interested in showing the really cool looking showpiece bikes. you know the lowriders and cruisers and the serious sci-fi style recumbents. you know serious eyecandy like the stuff that Matt (recumpence), Kim (AussieJester) and many others are capable of producing. that is why i likely will not be posting any of mine. mine always look like an unfinished science experiment. or a steampunk creation gone wrong.

anyhow i see that Ypedal has linked all of them back to the general discussion area.

I would love it if this actually made it to the air. Though I don't get cable, so Ill never see it:D

Looks like somebody rounded up the usual suspects there. At least now if they want to do a story on ebikes, they can contact knowlegable folks. Not some guy they dug up that sells Ezips.

In before the lock! I posted my tandem and folder. Thanks for the heads up! After all the time spent alone in the garage, it's nice to tell non-Endless-Sphere members about our creations :)

damm dont have an ebike yet :( or well did matts trike make it?
ps: didnt someone here have a twin motor 18hp bike?

Me too. Wish I had an E-S bumper sticker for some of these photos :)

You could print one up easily enough that would do for photo shoots, even though it would not last in weather while riding. ;)

Here's an old 1-color mockup.

It's about what I expected from CNN, typical hatchet job, subtle insulting undertone throughout.
Would be bomb maker(terrorist), eager and happy to support breaking the law by helping to design illegal 35mph conversions, and recklessly endanger children in makeshift trailers being pulled by poorly engineered bikes.

Read the side quotes..
I'm somebody who believes very strongly in doing what you think is right rather than what is the law.

It's lazy Americanism. It's like we're still trying to avoid doing some work that isn't that hard -- work that will make you feel great.

Is there any chemist alive who didn't start out as a kid trying to blow things up (or at least burn them up spectacularly)? If so, I don't know of any (even the women :D ). We all started out as pyromaniacs, and some of us are still at it, with our employers' blessings. (the only way I get to make a big fire nowadays is by "mistake")

Are you expecting CNN to provide accurate information? I expect that they are trying to sell advertisements by using provocative statements and headlines that are loosely derived from reality.

Why didn't the CNN reporter take a spin on an ebike? The flavor of the story would have slanted more to the fun aspect and more likely to touch on all the benefits. I didn't care for the bomb part of the headline, but since the story wasn't negative then I guess attracting more attention is beneficial. Not bad, and press will only increase. As long as we're avoiding press like kids killed on ebikes or grandmas run down by ecyclists it's all good.

Wish they would have gotten my name right it says 'Terry Rank' instead of Troy, though the watermark on the picture itself says Troy. Win some, lose some.

Interesting comment. FWIW, I was only a garden variety pyro. But my grandfather worked on the manhattan project because it was THE WAR. But he often spoke with of how appalled he was by the bomb's use, and he how he'd never forget Edward Teller's horrifying laugh after saying the Hydrogen bomb would burn up the atmosphere! HAHAHA. I was lucky to have him as long as I did, and he'd always ask me, "Soooo, what are you (plural) going to do when the oil runs out??" If you notice, he devoted the (long) latter part of his life to the environment...
