I bought an 8s battery (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__21385__ZIPPY_Compact_5800mAh_8S_25C_Lipo_Pack.html?strSearch=zippy%20compact%208s) from HK which I was told would connect to the Accucell 8 balance charger without the need for any extensions or adaptors. To my surprise, I found that the battery came with 2x 4S plugs (not an 8S) and I have no idea how to charge it. I have a 4S and and 8s port on my charger, how am supposed to charge this battery? FYI, I connected one of the 4s plugs from battery to the first 4 pins of the 8S port and there other plug into the 4S port (no battery leads attached) and got a huge spark!

Please help.

You will need an adapter, to convert the 8s charger plug to 4s plus 4s. The positive wire of cell 4 will also be the negative wire of cell 5. Cell 5 is cell 1 of the second plug.

Thanks. where I can get such an adapter? Everything I have seen so far has a 2s 4s 6s configuration. No 4s plus 4s. Also I have a number of other ports on my charger, can I combine plugs into the ports?

Likely have to splice one yourself, from two 4s jst extensions and one 8s extension. Or splice the 8s pigtail onto the pack directly.

Will this work? http://www.progressiverc.com/8s-jst-xh-pigtail.html

nope, that is an 8 pin plug from looking at their picture. you need a 9 pin plug so you have the negative of #1 and then the top of all 8 cells. i get them 5 for $5.69 from ebay.

how many do you need and where are you located? do you have to of the 8S packs or three?

there are the plugs you can crimp and solder to your current leads: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-sets-JST-2-5-XH-9-Pin-Connector-Plug-Male-Female-Crimps-/111093380102?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19ddae7406

he used to offer the 9 pin plugs with 300mm leads but i don't see them in his store now. but you can buy the 300mm leads and use them with the 9 pin plugs so you don't have to crimp.

ok, found it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JST-2-5-XH-9-Pin-Connector-Plug-w-Wire-x-5-sets-/111093380099?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19ddae7403

Thanks a lot. I have one 8s battery pack which I am trying to charge (in retrospect I probably should have gone with 2x 4S lipos or even LiFePO4s. oh well.. guess I am stuck with this monster for now. I will PM details.

An 8s plug is a nine wire plug. A positive for each cell, plus one negative.
