Considering using a Trek Verve 4 for conversion?

Hi,
I have a Trek Verve 4 bike in good condition - looks like this one: https://www.trekchicago.com/product/trek-verve-4-212071-1.htm
I'm wondering if this would be a suitable frame for doing an ebike conversion?
I'm considering the BBS02 kit from Lunacycle https://lunacycle.com/bafang-bbs02-750w-middrive-kit/

A few questions:
1) Is this frame sturdy enough for a 'commuter' / 'touring' style bike? To be used mostly on bike paths / trails with some road riding?
2) Besides the above kit, what else do I need to change / upgrade? Tires? Wheels?
3) Is there another conversion kit I should be considering over the BBS02?

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

You might want to upgrade to a front disc brake if you will be riding in wet conditions (don't think that bike has a rear disc tab) so if you do, you'd have to get a new disc wheel (or hub).
As for the motor, if you are just riding on mostly flats you really don't need a mid-drive. But they are a bit easier to install (assuming you are doing a conventional install like on the bike you linked).

I've never done a mid-drive, but the bike is similar to mine in the signature. I ride exclusively on roads and bike trails made of small crushed gravel. You'll probably want the widest and most durable 622mm (700c) tire that you can fit in the frame. I did Schwalbe Marathon Cross 40-622 (700x38C), but once those run out I'm going to try Marathon Plus Tour 47-622 (28x1.75") in the rear.

Some people like the gears of a mid-drive. I like the one moving part of a direct drive hub motor, even though they do best in a smaller wheel.
