Hi,

I have a Bafang CST 36V 500W and I need a good controller (I bought one from China, but I had few problems).

I have a 36V 22Ah 10s battery (18650)

Can you suggest me a good one?

Thank you!

The S12S (as BMSbattery call it) seems to be the go, I got one with my CST.

For a bit more power you could go the S12Sh.

And LCD display https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-kit/548-s-lcd1-e-bike-lcd-meter-ebike-kit.html

I think ordering only a controller from BMS Battery would be expensive because of the freight.
One really needs to order enough stuff to amortize the shipping costs.
When I only need to a controller, I order them from the Ebay store of Elifebike.
They are smooth and quiet, although they are not sine wave type.
They come with cruise and a useful LVC value, there is not much of a display, but I only need a $5 mini voltmeter).
For your motor, I would recommend this one;

No need to worry about the controller be advertized as a 1000W unit, while your motor is rated 500W.
The 500W rating is conservative and the 30A controller would be a good match for the BPM.

A lower power unit with more features would be this one;

Thank you for the suggestions!

what about kelly controller or lyen? are they better?

I had a really bad experiece with chinese controller (not smooth, bad power battery management...).

Get the S12S. It's the perfect controller for the Bafang CST. It has so many features that no other controller can match. You need to get the S-LCD3 to go with it and a wheel speed sensor. If you don't already have one, you should get a PAS too. Try one of their new easy-fit left hand ones, but get one of their cheapest too as a backup in case it's not easy-fit.

The S12S is a real quality controller. It's a sine-wave one, so gives really smooth quiet power. It also has lots of adjustable settings for battery management, though I think you'll find that all the default settings work perfectly.

thx d8veh, I'm ready to order!

this is my cart:

I think I buy everything. Could you check?

That's what I would have ordered. I've fitted all that stuff to three bikes so far with the CST motor (apart from the new type PAS) and it all worked really well. Don't forget to order a normal PAS incase the easy-fit one doesn't fit. I heard of problems with a similar one.

Thank you d8veh for the advises! I place the order :)

Have a nice day.
Good to here.
Just out of interest how much did the shipping cost you? And to what country is it shipping to if that isn't too much of an invasion of your ur privacy?

saving for later. I think I will be using the same setup

Don't use that list, it's wrong on a couple of points.
The King meter sensor is for King meters only and that PAS sensor has bad reviews. Don't use it unless you can confirm that it works.
Depending on what motor you use, it might have an internal speed sensor(like the Q100, Q128, etc.).

I've used those speed sensors on many bikes. All they are is a hall sensor and magnet. There's nothing to be incompatible except the sequence of wires on the connector. What do you know that I don't mm? Did I miss something? The same for the PAS. they always work for me.

Most of the motors that BMSB supply have the speed sensor in them now, but you need to check first.

The bpm needs a speed sensor?
Being sensor less doesn't mean that it is not necessary?
