In the USA, one underlying health problem is lack of insurance:

Thats the American way. Nothing new there. What he should have done was cross illegally into Canada and he would have gotten treated.

People are recovering but still test positive for the virus.

So, does that mean that everyone will need to get the virus and learn to live with it.

that seems to be where we are at right now, so what do we do, stay locked up for 12 months or let people choose to go back to work, if you want to work then work, if youre concerned and want to self isolate then self isolate.

if you want Trumps pills you should be able to get Trumps pills.

I have a question, Lupus is treated with hydroxychloroquine, how many people with lupus have died from covid-19

My friend with Lupus is back up to a 7-week supply, but it took help from a rich & famous person to get it, overnighted from Latvia

I heard the health insurance companies weren't giving the lupus patients their prescription because the body stores it for 40 days and that the drs were subscribing to each other plus friends and family causing a shortage

Bulldust as usual.

Insurance has no role in the supply chain.

Our fearless leader's constant plugging it (without evidence) has turned it into unobtainium for those whose lives depend on it.

We're now allowing production from overseas plants that had been decertified for years of failed inspections.

this was the story
https://themighty.com/2020/03/lupus-patient-denied-hydroxychloroquine-covid-19/

I remembered the story because it mentioned Prednisone, there was a few people in January that I follow that came down with something bad and they used prednisone, after 4/5 days theyre off it and it feels like a truck runs you over the first day youre off it. one guy had to do another cycle. nasty drug but I wonder if anyones been using prednisone on corona

https://www.drugs.com/prednisone.html

snipped version, highlighted some important and relevant stuff:
Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It also suppresses the immune system.

Prednisone is used as an anti-inflammatory or an immunosuppressant medication. Prednisone treats many different conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders.

Steroid medication can weaken your immune system, making it easier for you to get an infection. Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Do not receive a "live" vaccine while using prednisone.

You should not stop using prednisone suddenly. Follow your doctor's instructions about tapering your dose.

Steroid medication can weaken your immune system, making it easier for you to get an infection or worsening an infection you already have or have recently had.

Looks like hydroxychloroquine is the "jack of all trades" treats fish, people for most anything. Is that odd. My mother was on it for a while but gave her aches and pains.

Whats Trump pushing now zinc next week it will be silver.

Wife had a phone appointment with her family doctor. He was concerned enough to send her to the hospital. I dropped her off at Emerg a little while ago. They apparently got her into a room quickly and she is currently waiting to see a doctor.

:(

So sorry man. Sure hope where you are is not too stressed for resources, especially fast testing

Around here only one in twenty like her get anything more than "go home don't infect others only return if you're about to die"

My state added 2000+ cases to 7000+ previous from two days ago.

And about the same increase of fatalities.

so the acceleration rate is "slowing down" a little

Probably because testing has been growin, from near nothing a few weeks ago, to now maybe 10% of what is actually needed.

I've been in contact with her. They have swabbed her and she just had a chest x-ray taken. I don't believe that would have happened without the referral from her GP, or at least not as quickly, but then again pneumonia in a mid 30's female with no pre-existing conditions may also be a good motivator. She said that she thinks they're turning around non-critical cases as the place seems pretty bare, as she put it. Awaiting further information.

that's a scary situation, we are lucky to be in BC, our doctors seem to be doing things right but its still straight up scary. not being allowed to be there would drive me nuts. I feel for you man

I was thinking about low pressure on ventilator because lungs inflamed and then prednisone is used for asthma
https://www.webmd.com/asthma/guide/prednisone-asthma#1
helps calm airway inflammation

and reduce lung inflammation before formation of lung fibrosis
https://www.ucsfhealth.org/education/faq-prednisone

its used for high altitude sickness also, chest/heart pain is a symptom

Great news, even in a big city she would get priority, odds are **very** high, prognosis is great.

It's us old fat diabetic bad heart mofo's they're having to toss on the scrap heap from lack of a health system.

I'll keep y'all in my thoughts. . .

interesting possibility

I have to say, the regular flu death numbers for USA seemed way high

I had thought in past years only 10-20K was "normal".

An easy antibody "are you immune?" blood test are needed, almost as much as the "have you got it now? / are you infectious?" versions.
