crystalyte motor rotating backwards

Hi my new hs3540 with sensorless controller problem wheel is going backwards someone says change the phase wire combination my wires at the moment are :-

yellow to yellow
green to green
blue to blue

Can someone tell me which colors to change to make it go forward?
Can i damage the motor or controller with wrong combo?

no you cant damage the controller like that. is is sensorless or sensored? look at the controller carefully, it may have a key for changing the direction. otherwise, it could be just by switching the wires number 1 and 3 round. look on ebikes website they have a color guide page somewhere mayen in the shop. c u

Thanks its a sensorless controller there is no reverse switch that i can see.

Just swap any two phase wires and it will turn the other way. Sensorless controllers like this are far easier to reverse direction than sensored ones, as you don't need to swap Hall sensor wires as well.

For example, wiring it:

Blue to Yellow
Yellow to Blue
Green to Green

Should make it spin the other way.

Yep, or if it happens to be a front hub bolt it on with the wires on the other side.

It depends which controller that you have. If you also had Crystaltye sensorless controller, there is a two pin jumper wire. By putting the jumper, it will reverse the motor. I don't have the pictures with me, i can post it later.

If you have other type of sensorless controller, you will have to play around the wire.

No don't run it with controller set to reverse. Limits could be different. Regen braking may or may not work, etc.

As Jeremy said, simply swap 2, any 2, only 2 phase wires and it will change the direction with a sensorless controller.

Yes, that is the one. The factory didn't label it, no one know about it. It will cause to reverse either plug or unplug the jumper.

I used Crystalyte sensorless controller to run other brand of motors, if the motor run backward, i simply use the jumper to correct it on the fly. The purpose of this jumper wire is exactly for this situation.

John in CR had a differ opinion, but I would put a CycleAnlyst to monitor amp load consumption to determine if there is performance problem, i would also combine it with RPM test to see if you get the same rpm on both direction.

One more statement that I like to make:

If you have a Crystalyte sensorless controller, and Crystalyte sensorless HS3540 motor, the phase wire color should be exact match: Green to Green, Yellow to Yellow, and Blue to Blue

But if you have a Crystalyte sensorless controller, and Crystalyte sensored HS3540 motor (extra 5 hall wire), then the phase wire will not match. There is long story about it, i don't want get into details for the moment. Now, you can also re-arrange phase wire to match, by simple using the jumper wire to correct the direction.

Yes its a sensorless controler to a sensored hs3540 motor now i understand why its going backwards but someone posted that if i us jumper wire peformance will be reduced so i think il change the motor phase wires.

Is yours sensorless or sensored?

If it has Hall sensors, then you need to swap phase wires and sensor wires around.

If it is sensorless (just three wires going to the motor) then just swap any two phase wires and the motor will change direction.
