Currie (scooter) motor data

Does anybody have the motor test data from the Currie Technologies motors? I am looking for the data (Kv,Kt,watts, efficiency curve) on the 24volt/900watt and the 36v/1000watt motors. I am trying to determine if it would be better to run the 24 volt motor at 36 volts or the 36V motor at 60 volts in my son's OSET. Torque and power are our deciding factors, but motor survivability (heat) will also factor in.

We are also trying to compare these motors with one designed specifically to run on 60 volts.

Thanks,

Rick

Perhaps post a link that will take a responder to a pic of the specific bike/scooter you are talking about. That might make getting answers easier. Best of luck.

I can work on getting a picture but I am asking about the Xyd Currie motors. 4.5 inch diameter, they are available in 24,36, 48 and 60 volt configurations.

Here is the little bikes he is talking about. http://www.osetbikes.com/
They are sweet!! How do you like it? how old is your son? do you have the 24v or 36v model? I'm assuming the 16 inch one.

Those little mini bikes look fun. I think I now know what to do with my extra currie motors....lol.

My motors are the 3 bolt mounting pattern, I think the OP was asking about the wider type curries...right?

I am asking about the 3 bolt motors. My 9 year old son's bike began life with 24v/600watts and SLA batteries on 16 inch wheels. It currently has 20 inch wheels, a 24v/900 watt motor running at 37/10ah lipos. I have a couple of videos on you tube, link below. The "big rock" video was taken at the youth nationals a few weeks ago before I put the larger wheels on it.

I am trying to determine if the bike would do best with the current 36volts or 60volts. I have motor data on the 600watt motor and the new 60volt motor but I do not know what the data is for my current 24v/900watt motor or for the older 36volt/1000watt motor.

The motor I am currently using is this one:

The stock motor is this one: http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/cu24v60hipem.html
It came with a 11tooth pinion instead of the 25 tooth one listed on the web page.

Does anybody have any experience with such a motor, resp. with such a kit?

http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/36-volt-500-watt-motor-controller-throttle-kit.html

cause the price is pretty low and seeing the videos on homepage of that company looks pretty good and useable.

thank you, phill

The XYD style is a face-mount like the Kollmorgan (fairly well known). The 36V motor on 48V would run a little warm (30% overvolt) the 24V motor on 36V would run warmer (50% overvolt) and the 36V motor on 60V would run the hottest (60% overvolt).

Higher voltage allows you to get your desired power with fewer amps (less amps, less heat), looks like the frame can hold as many batteries as you'd need to get whatever voltage you decide on. Best of luck.

You hadn't mentioned any other places you searched, perhaps these similar sites may have some of the info you want:

I have run the 24v 600w motor at 36v without any problems. Even after a hard ride I could hold my hand on the motor. I have seen them listed often as 24v or 36v and the wattage different depending on what voltage you run. I am about to run it on 44v of lipo. We will see if that is too much for it.

Thanks guyes,
finally I ordered motor from TNC scooters (450W/36V), already test it on dynamometer, so for that price it looks perfect. I will mounted on my quad this weekend so I am wondering how it will work.
The only thing is that firstly I wanted the motor, resp. the controller with PAS (torque or frequency), but they don't offer such a motor in TNC

Flyinmonkie, could you send any link about your motor here, please?

thx, Bigestfikus

Here is where I got my motor 2 years ago. The price has changes a lot since then.

There are a few places you can get them and at better prices. They are already posted above. Mine has been good so far. Lately I've been running 25v off the charger with lipo and it has been fine. A little warm after a long hill or hard run. I have seen some pretty big spikes in amps, like 114amps max. I think that is only for a split second or so. I have seen 70 or 80 amps on some short steep hills though. Cruising I see between 30 and 4o amps. In a few weeks, I'll be running 50v of the charger.

A 600w curie scooter motor can not handle 50v of lipo and 5200w pumped through it. I know this may not come as a surprise, but I had to try. It went well for about 8 minutes and then it melted inside. It was pretty hot right off, so I figured it was going to happen. It was a hell of a ride while it lasted though.
