Hello everyone,

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, if not, please advice.

I made an aluminium baseplate to mount both a cycle analyst and analogger. The data and power cable for the analogger is internal, so less cables to the outside.

I might do a small production run if there is interest in this product.

regards,
Roel

That is a beautiful piece!

A significant issue is that the analogger is not weatherproof. This is a real show-stopper since your mount is permanent.

You might consider adding a channel lip around the analogger that would accept the bottom of a readily available Hammond (or other) plastic utility box. Your plate would become the new 'top'. There are other enclosure strategies, but leveraging another commercially available (box) component seems workable for a limited run.

This would require a switch mount to power the analogger, but that could be addressed in several ways. Being able to power-cycle the analogger to initiate creation of a new filesets is very useful to partition test data between field test runs. Obviously this can be done as a side-effect of cycling the CA, but... Another thing that you might consider is adding one or two pushbuttons feeding the optional analogger inputs. I often use these to tag datasets by introducing button pushes that can be readily seen in the data. Also very good for syncing data files to video for analogger overlays - press the button and simultaneously pass your other hand in front of the camera - data and vid can then be trivially synced with very good accuracy in post production.

FWIW:

Hello Teklektik,

thank you for the tips.
This mounting plate was designed for a mtb I ride, without e-motor. I wanted to log pedal frequency and speed and needed a minimalistic clean cockpit.

However, I could make a sealed version if interest is big enough.

Does somebody know if the gps antenna would be encapsulated by an aluminium housing, would it still work? Or would the gps antenna "see" the satellites through the cycle analyst?

More tips or wishlist?
