cycle analyst higj gain low gain

Can someone explain the high gain low gain on the cycle analyst, in depth i undersrand a little how it works just by trial and error but need more info. Also the i term minimum and maximum im sure have a alot of settings but i need to know howcit works as well. Ive read the manual but it just tells how to adjist not why .
