Dapu mid-engine and display

I recently purchased a "Mountain" bike from ElectricBikeTechnologies in Pennsylvania USA. It has a Dapu mid-engine drive. They also have a bike called "Folding" which uses the same engine and display system. They rate the engine at 500 watts, but I can only find a 250 watt engine on the Dapu website. I assume they modified a controller. It's supposed to have a peak power of 720 watts. It's a torque sensing system but I don't know exactly how it works or is supposed to work. There are power levels you can set using the display. I don't know what power levels mean. They have percentages, but I don't know what percentage of what? Watts? Newton metres?

I don't have a manual for the display. They have a video to tell you how to operate most of, but not all, of the functions. The display has a USB but I don't know if firmware can be updated or not. It can be used to power something up externally. I found a display Key-Disp KD718 with similar but different functions. The manufacturer might be Greenpedel and the bike company had their own software options put on it.

I do not have any current problems with the motor or the display. I'm looking to share information with anyone that has one of those bikes or knows about that Dapu mid-engine motor and/or display system.

There's not much available about Dapu; what we know is in these threads:

For firmware updates, almost certainly the only source for those would be Dapu or the bike manufacturer (dealers maybe, but probably not). Keep in mind that even if you find an update, using it could change the behavior of the system in a way you don't like, and some systems will not allow downgrading firmware so you might not be able to go back to what worked.

Good points amberwolf. I had previously read some of those posts, but not all. Interesting that in one you can go back and forth between cadence and torque using the display controls. I am not going to try to do anything with firmware, unless it comes from the bike dealer while it's under warranty. I did not see my display in any of them. Some of the information is for hub, not mid-engine drives so it's hard to know what information is transferable. Still, any little bit helps and you always learn something new.
