Hey All,

So I am looking at getting the magic pie v5 and am having a hard time deciding on a battery and looking for some opinions.

I am looking at different versions of the 52v PF 11.5ah batteries from LunaCycle but am also seeing the 48v NCRB 17ah for a decent price and am wondering...Is the range going to be that much of difference in the 48v 17ah compared to the 52v 11.5ah to make it worth it giving up the extra power with the 52v?

My commute is about 18 miles round trip and I can charge at work on fairly flat ground with one steep up hill that is not that long.

Thanks!

Batteries... so many considerations in making the choice.
With all else equal (same bike, same ride, same wind, same throttle) the total watt hours (capacity) of battery determines range.
The 52v / 11.5ah battery stores 598 watt hours.
The 48v / 17ah battery stores 816 watt hours.
So the 48v battery will give you ~36% longer range than the 52v.

Real world, either battery should work just fine for commute you describe.
I'd probably lean towards the 52v PF battery -- might be a bit better for the one steep hill, and would give you a bit higher top speed.

Range can be greatly improved or killed by riding style. Wot starts a or peddle to 5 miles an hour. 11.5 or 17ah it would be 17ah for the money.
I would like to hear how you like the pie.

I need to know what cells are in the pack. I like the best cells for lower sag and longer life because of less stress. More ah means less stress.

They are both Panasonic 18650 cells.

If both packs Panasonic pf 10amp cell I would go for 48v 17ah pack. Easy this is for your 30amp controller magic pie v5 ? Best to use cell at 50 to 60 % of rated limits.

Yes would be easier with a link instead of just then a luna battery. With magic pie 6fet 30amp controller. Which would only see 30amp for brief time. I still want 17ah.
