DIY BAFANG builds with torque sensor? based on 2024 workbook

Are there any disadvantages of having no thrust bearing in M635 compared to BBSHD?
 
So, after about a year following the release does anyone here actually HAVE an M435 or M635? How do they work? They look interesting, but Bafang charging ~ $300 extra for torque sensing over the older PAS versions seems a little... shall we say greedy?

Its hard to figure out what is going on.
I think the M635 was cancelled, then uncancelled, while the BBS series is being discontinued in 2025. This from the HV channel.
 
I've attached a diagram for what's needed to connect a Bafang **analog** (not CAN bus) bottom bracket torque sensor to a CA. I've made two of these already, both work very well. I'm using a breakout board for the 74LVC1G07-Q100 to allow soldering wires to it. Soldering the IC to the breakout board was not trivial but it's not impossible with an appropriate soldering iron/station. I used my phone as a "microscope."
