Hey all,
I live in Spain and am in the process of obtaining the parts for my first build. I figured as I have recieved so much help from this Forum - and continue to learn, that I should make some contributions and ask for some advice in my own thread. I am a technology teacher in a bilingual highschool here and I am working on making this a month-long afterschool activity for the students to help me during the build. I am footing the bill for everything so the finished product will be mine but, my students are learning both chemistry and electronics in class this year so I figured this would be a good opportunity to show some fun real world applications. Here is what I have on order or here now. Will post some pictures soon.

Deck - ebay - budgetskate , 42inch long board , I may purchase a second lighter board.

Drive train - Enertion -Trucks, Bearings, Griptape, Gold single motor mount, Aluminum esc case, and Powerwheels 83´s.

Electronics - DIY electric skate -single ESC, and motor package, Wii nunchuck controler

Power -Hobbyking- 2 x 4s 5000mAh hard case 20 C Lipoly batteries, I-charger 106b charger and power supply

odds and ends

2x1 meter 10 AWG wire
60XT connectors, series set up and 60xt to banana plag adaptors
individual battery volt metters/cell checkers

Right now I'm planning on hooking up lipoly for a bit with 60XT connecters.

I am currently talking to a guy here on the forum about building me a Li-ion battery pack or two with the following specs.

7,5Ah-10Ah. @20C that would be 150-200A. For a brief moment the cells will deliver that much current but not continuously.
You could go with a 8s pack from 25R or VTC5 cells to get the highest possible current per weight.
As for the size, we can stay well within the limits. Around 300x150x20mm plus fuse holder and the wires.
No need for balancing on either one of those cells. They're both built to be used in power tools, where they take a lot of punishment and no balancers are used.

So a few questions
I was curious what you all think about these specs for a pack? I think in Europe these will run me around 250 a piece.

What C rating do these boards actually need?

Any thoughts on balancing and charging either lipoly or li ions?

Any other thoughts or comments hit me up I will update as this project proceeds and hopefully pictures coming soon

Sorry guys, bit of time passed between posts here. Not following through like I wanted. Been piecing the beast together bit by bit. The lessons went well and the kids really enjoyed putting the board together and working with it and then trying it out. Highly highly recommend for technology teachers out there. Happy to share plans just ask. Was curious if anyone on this board is in Madrid, Spain or Fairbanks, Alaska?? I figure no but if so give me a shout so we can meet up and ride!!

Have been running 2x4s hard case lipos as they can be had from HK for 50 euros
Added a case and on/off switch and attached basically everything to the bottom with super Velcro and a belt. Eventually will make it all pretty with a vacuumed case or maybe straight PVC pipe split.

I'm out of Spain this month and next but when I return some things to add to my board........

Li-Ion power
63 motor
Slick mountain tires
A one or two piece case.

I just picked up the dual truck, each with a sick 270kv motor......I believe ex-bubble gum mounts off the bay of e so I can foresee some future boards also being constructed. Maybe vECS.....

Quick Thanks to Torque and Onloop for the help, and okp for the awesome thread that is your board.

Enertion had a limited supply earlier this year. Thought it looked pretty sick.....I like his new carbon stuff now too.
