Just found this, very cheap, wide variety of applications...

Any substance that us "plastic", meaning soft in raw form and then hardens after some time into a solid shape, can be pressed into a form, to make a complex shape.

i.e. you only have to make a difficult and complex shape once for the mold, and then pop out the production model from soft goo that is pressed into the mold. There are several different commercial versions of a solidifying putty. This is corn starch (dirt cheap), and a certain type of silicone (very cheap), mixed in a certain ratio...

Real name-brand Sugru might be "better", but...this stuff might be "good enough" for quite a few prototyping and production jobs...

Yoyoman got that up here more than 8 years ago. I'm not sure what the advantage of genuine sugru would really be. Youtube is loaded with make your own plastic video, I'm sure that's quite useful if you understand the limitations. I'm sure none of it is terribly strong, etc.

Thanks for posting this Ron, I found it really useful. Couldn't sleep at 2am, this was entertaining for me!

Sorry I couldn't help.
Original post about it.
