So im building a diy surron from scratch and im trying to find a good cheap (less than $1000) 60v/72v battery that has good range and can power the 5000w kunray krv5 motor im planning to buy and it needs to have a 100a current on the battery. i found this listing: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008621330486.html on aliexpress and im planning on buying the 72v 50ah version, but i dont know if it is real and if it will do what i want. reason i am choosing a downtube is because i have a plan for a sliding mechanism to take the battery in and out, but if any of you guys have a bettery solution pls let me know but it does have to fit in my frame and be removable.

MOD EDIT: Edited link to remove tracking information.

Myself and most other members of this forum tend to be very skeptical of random batteries from Aliexpress...

You could do that one, but not recommended. Some better options:

- UPP: Unit Pack Power is the most widely known legit cheap pack manufacturer. Their quality isn't super great but they will use real cells and you will get a real battery.
- BTRPower: This company makes LiFePo4 batteries and is on Amazon too; great quality if you don't run the battery at its max specs for forever :D. I am running two of their 36v batteries on the scooter, and after about a year of maxing out the discharge current, they stopped performing as well... but that was my fault, I definitely recommend these batteries. Solid, good quality, downside is low discharge. The most you would get is 80A at 72v. (but that only costs about $400!)
- Bicycle Motor Works: These guys make high power packs with the latest Molicel, Ampace, Samsung cells; they normally do smaller sizes (up to 15AH) but maybe they would make a bigger one for you
- Electro & Co.: If you have the money, this is the premium shop for emoto batteries. Pricey but does fit within your budget if you reduce your AH requirement.

If you really want cheap, DIY is the only way to go. You can grab a Volvo XC90 module off Greentec Auto, solder a BMS on, and have a 60v battery with 20-30AH capacity and as much current as you want (260a peak)--for only $130! (plus BMS.)

Interesting that they put “Samsung” in the pack name to make it look like it uses Samsung cells lol. A 72v50Ah pack would be 20s10p, or 200 cells. That’s huge and there isn’t a hailong style case that comes close to holding that number of cells. Probably won’t fit in a bicycle frame.

Ali*.* batteries are almost all dishonestly over-optimistically marketed in terms of their specifications, capacity, power ratings, quality, materials, etc.

Ask the vendor what specific cells are used and how many and report back.

I'm thinking of building my own battery which will help me make my own size to fit my diy surron frame, but where would be the cheapest Australian store to get cells how many would i need, and what else would i need? i have decided on a 60v 40ah battery with lithium cells and a 100a current bms to power my 5000w kunray krv5 v2 motor i will get.

I must add i am trying to replicate a exact surron battery same specs, same how its built.

Based on your #1 priority evidently:
im trying to find a good cheap (less than $1000) 60v/72v battery

You will probably find that DIY battery can get pretty expensive, once you factor in:
  • Genuine quality cells
  • Spot welder and peripherals (electrodes, battery)
  • Nickel strips
  • Copper sheet
  • Spacers
  • Wiring
  • Connectors
  • Enclosure
Suggest you adjust your thinking about the battery as a place to save money. It is the heart of an ebike and cheap components can result in disappointing performance and longevity and possibly danger (fire).

OTOH, a DIY Surron should be a performance excitement machine that requires a high performance battery, so DIY may be the way to ensure that, as you can choose the cells and format and design it to the exact shape and form factor you need..

What is the proper way to remove the tracking info from an aliexpress link?
I’ll add it to the forum tips sticky, unless there’s a better place) so I can go back there when I forget (getting old lol).
